John’s reaction to that beautiful lick at 3:43 is the right reaction.

Damn, playing a guitar solo so good that BB King just straight up falls in love with you. That’s a big win right there.

I've seen this a bazillion times. Ok, that hyperbole, but I have seen this, and listened to a grip. For sure. Aside from BBs generosity, and Mr. Trucks' TEAR INDUCING SOLO AND HUMILITY, my FAVORITE part of this is watching Mayer's epiphany that HE AIN'T SHIT. Priceless.

Even as a world-renowned violinist, it must be hard to walk on that stage on crutches. And of course, he blows everyone away, but does he constantly feel like he has to, because of his disability.?

I realize this is an older video, but I just watched it for the first time. I then read some of the comments and have mixed feelings about them. I first saw John Mayer right about that time and I'd already known for years about Trucks. Many of the replies give Mayer a lot of credit for humbly sitting and watching a master on the slide guitar, Trucks. To me, he appeared uncomfortable and was in sort of a "flight" mode, but there was no where to hide. Who could blame him? For him, that part of the evening was setup to fail and, once he was in it, he was corneredbwhilr battling some pretty serious emotions. A different night, different venue, and BB King being more self-aware in terms of what he was saying in the context of where and with whom he was saying it, and Mayer may have ignited the place with his fiery talents. BB king is supposed to be a famous musician and the consummate professional, not a Derek Trucks fanboy. Common sense should have held him back from going all the way in honoring one guitarist at the expense of an equally gifted musician. If I were Mayer, I would have at the least been disappointed...and probably a bit hurt. After all, he is human. I didn't see the entire concert, so perhaps Mayer had already taken command of a song or two...to at least had an equal opportunity to showcase his talents. Hope so.

@@rooster16091982yes I know he is I am not stupid but a lot of people have some weird issues with attractive people, same with the person who is born into money but by his own accomplishments is a success in business and people will always say well he was born rich that’s why he’s successful.
