Yes…any style of rim mold remediation needs to be done on a regular basis..it’s generally not a “one & done!” process. My steam cleaner has a point snout adapter and I use steam to clean those holes from the toilet bowl side, then follow with a bleach soak. And I even have to do THAT at least every 2 months. Home ownership is exhausting!!💕

Slightly off topic. I have one of me, but 2 toilets. The unused one gets a water line crust. I rubbed petroleum jelly all around above and below the water level. An experiment. I think it is working. I do flush it, when I think about it. Not often enough.

This video was very relevant! Yesterday when I flushed the toilet in the basement bathroom, the drain below the bathtub started pumping water up, some paper and stuff. Obviously clogged somewhere. But I kinda freaked out as I didn't know/understand that the toilet, the sink and the bathtub shared the same drain system. Went out today and bought myself a drain snake, going to attempt to "fish out" whatever is stuck down there tomorrow. This video was really helpful!
@papajoeknows8355
@papajoeknows8355 3 күн бұрын
@@WormsWeGot something to be aware of. While toilets and tubs / showers are “plumbed” together and are “gravity fed” out to the sewer or septic, sewage in a basement needs to be lifted (usually a few feet) to the height of the main line where gravity then takes over. This is done by an ejector pump, so you’ll want to make sure the pump is working properly as well. Hope that made sense.

When I got my cats, I started keeping the lid down, which traps humidity and lets mould grow when it never did before. I just spray bleach on the discolored spots and it magically disappears in hours, then pour bleach down the overflow tube to get inside the channels. Repeat as necessary. Bleach seems best for mould, while vinegar is good for mineral deposits (hard water, etc.) and the like.
@papajoeknows8355
@papajoeknows8355 3 күн бұрын
@@joeschmo622 Bleach is a very deceiving product… it is far more effective at “bleaching” the color of mold than it is at killing it. Because we believe what we see, we think it has killed it, but it hasn’t. That’s why it comes back so quickly. So we just keep using & buying product over and over again. Great for sales, but not so much for us. The acetic acid in vinegar, on the other hand, kills mold down to the roots, but doesn’t really change the color that much, so you still need to remove the surface stain, but it won’t come back for a long time. Vinegar also helps break down the mineral deposits that the mold is “rooted” in. All in all, vinegar is a far better option.
