03:20 - I feel this talking to white people sometimes. Depending on the situation, I will get a barrage of questions about my hair, my skin, where I come from, or whatever. I feel like Aaron, because it can be so tiring, especially when I am literally in the middle of a conversation with a stranger and they start talking about my hair! I think I will turn it around the next time, and quiz them on theirs??? Objectification is tiring!

My father was afflicted with polio before the Salk vaccine was discovered. He lived with a deformed and twisted right ankle and foot and walked with a limp. But he didn't let his handicap define and rule his life: he adjusted his lifestyle to fit into his handicap. He was very ambitious, hard-working, and hence achieved a high degree of success in whatever he did. His social and people skills knew no bounds as he befriended and was beloved by many from all walks and statuses in life: from laborers, white collars, to professionals; and even the elite. He had always been a highly-resourceful person and had accumulated a sizable amount of real estate between the US, where we eventually migrated, and our native Philippines. But one quite impactful early childhood memory I have of him is when he had gone to the local blacksmith to have a gadget installed in his then 1950s Buick and instructed the latter to convert the car's standard foot brake into a hand-operated one. Once, he even had a buzzer installed by our family dining room so that our housekeeper--by a mere touch of a button--would have a much easier time summoning everyone to assemble to our dining table--from wherever our numerous family members would come from in our three-storey house. He had taught my siblings and me that the biggest and worst handicap in a person is not physical. Instead, it's the one in-between one's ears and chest.

It is so sad that people can be so ugly and I am not talking about the flesh I am talking about the heart. Ugliness is not of the flesh it is of the heart and those who see ugliness in the flesh are seeing the ugliness in their hearts. I hope her son over the years has learned to see that it is not his flesh that defines who he is. Being physically different from others does not change the person that you are. Nor does being physically different make you ugly or beautiful. We tend to worry too much about physical differences while ignoring the beauty of the heart and soul.

Yeah it's pretty sad that obviously she was a very beautiful woman. But it seems she was the only one that didn't know it. So she got all of that plastic surgery.Which did more damage than anything. It's just a little sad that she worried so much about what other people thought of her. People are just cruel sometimes because of their own ok insecurity's.
