Slap shot is my favorite movie!!! Like it's been said its "everything a man wants to see in a movie" These Hanson Brothers were good hearted young men, friendly unassuming, loyal, team players, selfless players, very likeable. That was the moral of the story... They were really good guys at heart. The three of them really were Hockey players!!!

I'm from the Binghamton area of New York and the Broome Dusters, Broome is the county, was our team in that North American Hockey League (NAHL) back then. Matter of fact they say in the movie "the Broome County fans are going crazy" or something to that effect. Also, a Broome Dusters center Rod Bloomfield doubled for Paul Newman in the movie. Anyway I clearly remember when the movie came out I was like 12 at the time and because the movie was about our hockey league and all the familiar players the lines for tickets were literally down the street. Sold out for weeks

In the 80s my folks friend had a son that played ice hockey, so my parents would take me along to see him play and one time l went into the changing room while they were playing and the smell of old and new sweat almost knocks you off your feet. During this time l saw Slap Shot for the first time and to this day whenever l see a hockey changing room in any movie, that smell comes to mind. I remember also, that any broken stick l took that happens l took it home and tried to fix it.

This is false advertising. Everyone in Johnstown is broke, the weather is depressing AF, and the the only people who haven’t left for greener pastures are the junkies and the criminal element from Philly.

Johnstown is just a massive landfill and the trash coming in nonstop from Philly, NY and NJ are only making that landfill grow bigger and bigger by the day.

So many movies were "based on a true story," and are nothing like the real story. Slap Shot is a film where almost everything really happened, but it was never referred to that way. Always thought that was funny.

Brilliant. I loved this film back in the day. Who would have thought Paul Newman of all the great American film stars would have done a movie like this. The Hansons made this film. We love this in the UK.

Hey Steve, it's Jim Starr in Hershey, PA ... I am glad you are doing well and I appreciate the tour. lol - It's been a while since the AHL team you played on (Baltimore Skipjacks) came to Hershey to play the Bears and all you guys would do the "snake" on the ice at the end of warmups. Remember that winning streak you and Baltimore had, I believe it was a 17 game win streak and the funny thing was that the streak started when you beat the Bears ... and 17 games later you were back in Hershey and the Bears ended your streak. See Bennett Wolfe much? : ) ... You and the rest of the Hanson's posed for a pic with me when you guys came to the area for a charity game. You guys had a bad temper as you started roughing me up just because I asked you if you wanted a stinkin' root beer. ... I mean, you could of just said No. LOL - ... Jim Starr - Hershey, PA / On KZbin and Facebook.

Real life fun fact , my dad worked security for the filming of the movie ! My mom and me as a baby were part of the crowd during filming ! For years my dad had his pay stub from the movie . Heard Newman was a really nice guy and treated people well !

Slapshot...My ultimate favorite movie...My hometown Hornepayne NW Ontario is where Goldie Goldthorpe grew up and played hockey...He was the inspiration for Ogie Ogilthorpe in the movie. Also a little known fact...It was the first American movie translated in french in Quebec. No doubt that Yvon Barrette/Denis Lemieux and Yvan Ponton/Jean-Guy Drouin had something to do with that...They would've say something like " If you do the translation in France like usual, It will sound totally stupid " In Quebec, Hockey is way stronger than religion 👍👍
