Not challenging such backward and selfish behaviour / taking it because you need a job is terrible advice. Report it to HR formally and begin to seek new opportunities - trusting your skills which the micromanager has disrespected and even caused you to lose confidence. If a companies management accept that behaviour, move on as it’s not the environment for you!

No. Dont. Tell them, No or they will carry on forever. Micro management is about dominance and its not to be accepted atall. Best words to tell a micro manager "let me get on with my day. Let me live in Peace, do you need a mirror to focus on yourself? I'll buy you one"

Micromanagers destroy companies. They are poor managers of people. Look for a new job. They will never change.

One thing you can do is called malicious compliance. Do what they want just not they way the expect it will be done. Or do what they want and do it to the extreme (over the top).

Resisting won't work, but ignoring their words and never smile will. Also when you train new employees, if you gonna teach them something in your way, speak with higher volume and also say the reason why it will be more advantageous. The manager may keep quiet and later teach them another way which would have more cons. When you see your new employee is making cons, rather than asking them to do in your way, tell them how you can improve the manager's method and also suggest your way

Wow, you made it seem like micromanaging is okay and for employees to just deal with it. I just watched a TED video that was complete opposite and every definition defines it a negative term. You didn’t give any examples how micromanaging can negatively affect work performance.

Thank you for your comment. I agree with you, micromanaging is negative and affects employees' work performance negatively. 💯For employees that find themselves in this position and not able to leave their job due to financial and family obligations, or they don't feel safe to give that feedback to their managers for whatever reasons, they can try these tips to work around the situation they find themselves in.

Micromanagers are destroying companies that owners built. I don't think owners or CEO's know what kind of toxic micromanagers they hired. They always shift the blame onto the employees.

My manager cut my hours instead being DIRECT. She should've at least said "im sorry ima have to let you go" instead she's was trying to make me quit from my hours to 12 to 4 damn hours. Now it's hard finding a job now I applied to multiple ones and not any of them haven't called me. I'll just be patient and wait.

That’s what I choose to do: my micromanaging school admin always finds what is wrong in my lessons and showers me with tons of feedback. I’m very drained and burned out. I am taking home all the stress and that is affecting my child and wife. So I decided that I will listen to what they have to say and will adopt one or two feedback. I will only focus on them and will carry them out for 2 months. Then I adopt another. But I decided that I will not lose my mind over this. It is not worth it, specially as a teacher, when I can go work in other schools if I have to.

Managers are slave drivers is why this Convo is being had. Workplaces are toxic period. Especially if everyone is there over five hours 😭. Y'all gone learn.... we're also gonna learn what estrogen is. Got a good 65 percent of the population or more as sociopathic actors now....job performance we call it.

Because sometimes they're waiting for you to say something. Those managers just be crazy. And because you're working under them they're gonna treat you crazy lol... because they be wondering why when they shouldn't be. The job itself is crazy because you're not supposed to manage other adults that nobody has done thorough testing IQ wise. The whole day be a joke for a lot of people....and those managers always do what they technically can get away with and/or what you were gonna do anyway had they not said anything. And if you're coerced I say do it slow af til they realize they never should've bothered you...slow down and don't stress yourself. Get to saying you need more breaks. They're just patronizing passive aggressive gnats who know they're treating people in a way they wouldn't like; even when pleasant. They just cross the line and like it. You have to be sick if you think people wake up for a work day for you to be their job. Stay out of people's faces as much as you can if managing. They know what they're doing. I avoid that position because I think it's demonic and you really get used by the establishment and have to know too many operations and become obsessive. Its like a little sold out person who really is there to assist employees, customers, and everybody else is the gag.

Hi @kayaniasim8757! Year 3 and the meditation is still going strong. When my mum was in a managers role she said people never start with what they want for fear of rejection. So you have to probe a bit or let the conversation flow and it's usually the last thing they bring up is the thing they really want or want changed. But you have to get past their original request without sending them away to get to what they really want.

It seems that I often listen to ask questions for two reasons to learn about things and don’t know as well as to learn enough to ask questions and often my desire to ask questions results in me interjecting into the conversation and show that I have some knowledge of knowledge on the subject and an analytical thought process if the subject being discussed. But, a zip it and listener I am not usually.
@coachling
@coachling Жыл бұрын
It would be interesting to see if you could let go of the need to interject and probe what it is they need (help, listening ear, validation). And when they do need your advice and you provide your knowledge at the right time, it'll be even more powerful. They will remember that. Thanks for sharing.

@@coachling my problem is also OCD & ADD attention deficit disorder or something like each. I can have a thought in my head needing to ask a question about something and something or several something else’s be discussed and I not recall what my first question or two were about to ask. Best when I take notes but I also try to jot diwn what and when it was said to have context relating to my question and if I do too much of that I miss other stuff trying to formulate an abbreviated version of what was said that I wanted clarification about. I have lived in chronic pain with sleep deprivation since 20, I’m 66 now and had to quit work at 51 after 29.5 years in the commercial nuclear power industry. Lots of training, fast paced training, lots of material covered in a short period of time. I progressed from an apprentice in one field to a tech(senior position), part time supervisor, to technical engineer in that field and 4 more quitting as a senior tech engineer of about 20 + years. Chronic pain robs you of a lot of rest and attention span/focus, so I did written planning jobs over and over to make them detailed for techs and operations but condensed for senior mgmt as well to read quickly.
