I'm quite impressed with the footage too, Katie. I did apply a coarse "auto contrast" function to it in a freeware video editor, and except for one brief section, the results were even better. However, correcting that one section would have required learning fine-tuning skills that I don't have the time to do just now. In the end, I left the footage exactly as it came out of the camera - I prefer being rough and ready rather than trying to be "professional", anyway. The river is surprisingly free of litter and that's probably due to the volunteer group who periodically clean this and other stretches of the river Dour.

Adding your comment to this particular video is only going to confuse the few visitors that I get, Ben, so I'll be removing it after giving you the chance to add it to one of the more appropriate "anti-social behaviour videos". OK? :)

In the video I said, "There is more to this than meets the eye", a statement expanded upon in the video's KZbin description and one that will be examined even further in a comment subsequent to this one. This quote from the American National Institute of Drug Abuse is typical of what I found during a quick search on Google: "Several studies have linked marijuana use to increased risk for psychiatric disorders, including psychosis (schizophrenia), depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders, but whether and to what extent it actually causes these conditions is not always easy to determine." My perception is different: teenagers with pre-existing psychological conditions are inclined to try anything that may help them cope with the ongoing existence of those conditions. If a teenager who starts smoking cannabis for this reason continues to be subjected to ongoing psychological pressure, is subjected to inescapable new ones, or a psychologically significant event occurs in their life, then it may no longer be enough to maintain the internal balance between mind and psychological history - hence the "increased risk for psychiatric disorders". Consequently, even if cannabis were legalized or smoked in a more efficient manner, I believe the teenagers mentioned in the video would still choose to sit in an open stairwell at 2.40 in the morning and in sub-zero temperatures. Smoking cannabis cannot cause "psychiatric disorders" but it appears it can help keep at bay any acquired (perhaps I should say, inflicted) potential for developing them. The knowledge exists on how to give such people the tools necessary for psychological "self-repair" but it is not yet, and there are good reasons why it may never be, available in the public domain. As an example of what can be achieved, consider an abuse victim called Karen, who without intervention would have spent the rest of her life in hospital as a human vegetable, given at: dover.evopsychology.com/2009/06/biggin-street-incident-straw-that-broke.html

@@JacksinUk No, I haven't heard that, Jackie, but because of the lockdown there are only a limited number of ways that I would hear of such news. When I reported chronic, daily/nightly noise and other neighbour nuisance to Southern Housing Group, they treated myself and my elderly mother who lived with me as the problem, not the residents causing the anti-social behaviour. It was one hell of a battle for me, trying to get Southern Housing Group to comply with their statutory obligations as Landlords. In the end, they moved the nuisance tenants to another property, but in doing this, merely transferred the problem on to another unsuspecting, innocent set of neighbours! Southern Housing Group's failure to act promptly in dealing with the nuisance neighbours and their poor attitude towards myself and my mother, gave us both chronic health problems from which we still have to deal with. At least we have better neighbours now, but that is more by luck than through Southern Housing Group's efforts.

Wind chimes suck, they are intrusive, not pretty, not melodious. They are intrusive and in the middle of the night they are like an alarm clock going off at one, two, three o'clock in the morning. They rob you of sleep. They suck! there are 11 outside of my window, I have lost years of sleep and am told there is nothing that can be done.

What a beautifully serene spot. I've looked at your photo of that vault, and I found it quite troubling. I wonder if any of the other vaults suffered interference like this? The lack of any real damage, other than the broken bier, made me think that possibly, only possibly, that it might have been 'Resurrection' Men.

Thanks for your comment, Brian. With hindsight I can see how fortunate my generation - and the ones either side - were in having access to these fortifications. If computer games and the internet had been available when we were children then, after the initial interest had worn off, I am sure that we would have chosen a day in the tunnels over a day in front of a computer screen every time!

You might try mounting that camera on a large St Bernard dog. Of course, you might have to remove the medical equipment hanging on the hounds collar first. Seriously, hand held gimbals make those pan shots nicer. Saw a review of on on the "techmoan" youtube channel. If you hate being panned for poor panning then Robert is your mothers brother. Thanks for documenting the heights. They say Star was was originally a japanese film called the "hidden fotress". I must watch it some day, when I have nothing more interesting to watch.

I do have a basic Opteka X-grip stabilizer that would be suitable for mounting the GoPro on but I'm bike- or foot-powered rather than car so it's a bit awkward to carry when climbing & stuff - I'll just have so see what conditions are like on the day. Another reason for wanting snow is because last year (when we didn't have any) I purchased a supa-dupa go-faster adjustable snow shovel that had been reduced in price from £8 to £2. If we don't get any snow soon then the shovel is going to last longer than I am!

Omgosh! This is absolutely gorgeous! I can see how it was modeled like Highgate! The Victorians even in death were full of pomp and circumstance. I love the serenity of this cemetery. I am sure the majority of headstones were hand carved with labor intensive tools of the era! I am a taphophile or lover of cemeteries and headstones. The headstones reveal so much about the previous generations. I love the investigative work of finding facts out about cemeteries around me and the people that were buried there! An extremely interesting video. It would be wonderful if you could go back and do some vids of individual headstones. I would love to see what they say. And the dates too! The decorative aspect of the headstones is very beautiful. It just adds a certain ambience to the scenery. Really amazing! Thanks so much for sharing this! Loved it!
