Is this basically an inverted 1-3-1 sort of like the Buzz defense? The 1-3-1 at least has the advantages that come with not allowing middle.

Perfect addition to Next Defense
@MercerKnowsBallАй бұрын
This is NOT a 1-3-1 Zone in the Ga Tech section. This is a 1-1-3... just the Backline Wings are UP to adjust the formation. 1-1-3 is often called AMOEBA. It is older than Jerry Tarkanian and Lute Olsen. You can find footage of Larry Johnson and Steve Kerr running this Defense on grainy video. The only difference is the OFFENSES that is played today vs back in the day. The Wing Forwards are UP more because the Offense is Spread Out more. What the Guards are doing is IDENTICAL. What the Big is doing is Identical.

This is 1 of those videos I want to show the Fudds who always try to tell me that Playing ZONE in HS Basketball doesn't prepare the Players for the "Next Level". But my Seniors ALL get College Ball Offers and our Defense is ALWAYS Top 5 to Top 10 in the State. And we only have 150 kids in the school.

great actions here. I love the veer look. So many great Horns actions around. Having a hard time to decide which ones I like. I tested about 5 options this past summer. Only will keep one for season. Maybe we add this Veer action. The action I kept is Horns with an elbow catch, fake hand off with the PG, and Fingers cut to create a triple gap for our best scorer.

Hi coach what part of the play do you call ricky ?
@SlappinGlass5 ай бұрын
Hey Coach, we are referring to the iverson cutter curling the last screen then receiving a down screen from the same screener

love this action. I'm trying to run it out horns without too much success. It's not disguised enough or something. I like how they run it here to get catches inside the arc.

Coach ,is 77 conceptual for them? 77 spanish looks to be a call. between their high slot flow and 77 how would their guys know what to go to if it truly is flow. in flow corner guy ghosts, in 77 corner guy appears to set the drag and slips to 3.
@SlappinGlass6 ай бұрын
Hey! The "77" just refers to the alignment of the double high screen. Everything from there is either flow or a call like you mentioned. Thanks!

Can also super aggressively hard hedge the ball screen, which then allows you to completely avoid the back pin. Seen a few try that approach here also. Nice vid as usual.

I'm considering a 2-1-2 zone with the "1" moving ball side in a free floating responsibility, double team @ the 3 pt line, if someone cuts through the lane, float back and cut off the passing lanes... just a high energy option.
@shantaylegans72546 ай бұрын
@jdramirez77 Did you ever do you 2-1-2? if so what did it look like?
@jdramirez776 ай бұрын
@@shantaylegans7254 it would be next year... And truth be told... It would be with rec players so it will look like a shit show.

Doesn't he get burned on this if the pass goes through or is Diaz good at assessing the risk and doesn't always go for those? Feels like his momentum is really carrying him forwards, vulnerable to backcuts or if the ball goes through on the dho, he's behind and in recovery mode.
@matimamo60178 ай бұрын
Great example. thanks! Question: the examples above show that the 4 man is the RIP screener. what happens if it's a small guard?
@SlappinGlass8 ай бұрын
Hey Coach, this defensive strategy can still apply if a small guard is defending the stack screener. Corner would still x-out and the small guard will close out to the corner.
