The problem with hidding places is the lag. Crates, barrels, walls load in first and can be seen before trees or tractors ect. load in. I'd see a floating crate from a far before the escalator spawns in😂

For sure one of the biggest broken parts of the game . I don't see how the characters are not the last thing the game loads in . Think you have some advantages on a person who hasn't seen you an they log out relog an see you watching them from 12 buildings away 😅. No one is safe from reloggers

On official vanilla servers, if you hide barrels, crates and chests, they last 14 days buried, but 45 days unburied without any interaction.
