Oh wow what an absolute GEM of a video! Were you there filming this? I rode here in 2003 and it got demolished shortly after that. I did get to ride the last bull bucked at Kowbell. "Porky". Man what a great video. There's only one other video on KZbin of the old Kowbell at Mansfield Tx 😢R.I.P.

It's also a bit larger than the standard colt saa to account for the solid block of steel it's made from, unlike the cast parts of a colt. The tolerances are tighter, the machining is better, and they are all around better built. And the only revolver in the world that can make the claim of having no cast parts. Its made from a solid block of the highest quality steel.

Is there on BLI Reading 4-8-4 T-1's a switch on the bottom that turns off and on the smoke generator?
@NeilADahl18 күн бұрын
I looked last night There is no switch under the cab nor in the front smoke box, also there is not on under the domes. Now mine is the fantasy scheme. Neil You can turn smoke off with Function 7 and one also can turn the smoke off at startup with CV =246 Value = 0 then F 7 will start smoke if you wish. Neil

I do not like the swiveling rear engine underneath the boiler, not prototypical. In my view, scale models should not do this. Otherwise, both are nice models with MTH clearly winning when it comes to smoke performance. Sounds? I can go either way.

Here in Illinois, I saw the Mo-Pac freight trains roll through, heading either north or south. The trains had mostly rolling stock from Southern Pacific, Cotton Belt, some Western Pacific, some M.K.T. and some Rio Grande, and some Frisco, some Santa Fe, and later a lot of Burlington Northern, mostly the Burlington Northern auto racks, along with a lot of Chessie System and Southern. Occasionally, I saw some Illinois Central Gulf,Milwaukee Road, and from 1985 to about 1992, a lot of Grand Trunk Western, along with some rare Eastern Railroad rooling stock, like Boston and Maine, or Bangor and Arstook. Also, I saw on occasion, Canadian National rolling stock, as was on this train, along with some EJ&E coil cars, before Canadian National bought out EJ&E in 2009. I am mentioning that because the C.N. trains run where I live, and the Illinois Central freight trains [Canadian National bought I.C. in 1998] ran to the west of where I grew up, while the Missouri Pacific freight trains ran east of where I grew up. That's why I like trains, both model and real. What was a rarity was to see piggyback/intermodal cars on the manifest freight trains. I have seen some of the intermodal cars on the manifest freight trains more on videos than I have in real time.

Got to admit the DCC is an amazing thing compared to the old DC systems. I may be the only modeler working with DC left, and although I have historic accuracy to give me an excuse for doing so and I will get my trains running well I will totally admit the limitations I will have here by not going with this sort of a modern system. These diesels are running like a swiss watch Neil, and the sounds are fantastic...
@NeilADahl2 ай бұрын
If your DC layout runs properly all it takes is connecting 2 wires and you are running DCC. I have a switch that selects the input to the track. I can switch from pure DC, to PFM, to MTH DCS, and DCC. One does have to make sure the equipment on the track is compatible with the power selected. There is nothing wrong with DC, but it is good to know your options. Thanks for watching! Neil

Yeap stopped running 2 amp systems a couple years ago. My BLI and MTH locos are much happier with 5 amp systems set at about 15 volts.
@NeilADahl3 ай бұрын
My normal operating speed for my trains is in the range of 20-40 SMPH so I had not noticed performance issues. But every time I ran my MTH GS4s of which I have 3 in Daylight and one in Freedom Train I encountered issues on my 4th of July Freedom train display and Every Halloween I tried to run the Daylights with even worse performance due to the lighted passenger cars. It Finally dawned on me to try my other power systems (PFM Sound II, MTH DCS, MTH Straight DC, and an very old MRC Gold Power Pack) and all the issues went away!!! It only took about 6 years of me putting up with this issue to identify the issue as a power problem. I even bought a new NCE 2 amp wall wart and it made NO improvement. As soon as I installed the NCE SB5 Smart Booster all issues were resolved!!! What A relief! Thanks for your comments! Neil

@@NeilADahl Yeah without the SB5s I could only run one BLI loco with a consist of BLI passenger cars. LOL

Your test seems to verify a conclusion I reached last year when stress-testing my MTH Little Joes and my BLI 4-8-4, they demand more power than a typical DCC layout can provide. It is important for collectors to note, both MTH amd BLI stated their electronics are not DCC but are DCC compatible. Its really too bad they are outshined by superior Tsunami and ESU sound systems which provide a better experience wothout the power drawback.

This is a noteworthy video for anyone running or planning a DCC layout with MTH or Broadway Limited engines, esp. steam! A lot of us need to re-think amperage needs in HO due to pulling loads and grades. Complaints about BLI/MTH factory-supplied decoders may just be lack of power. Thanks much for this very enlightening test!
@NeilADahl3 ай бұрын
I have never had a BLI or MTH decoder fail... but I had always noticed that they did not play well with other decoders. So far I am finding that I can run BLI, MTH, Soundtraxx, and ESU loksound (ScaleTrains) at the same time with no conflicts. This is a breath of new air and opens the door for so much more fun in operation! Neil

Majestic machine! But this is actually way bigger news than people realize. Mexicans are going out by the thousands to wave because not only is this an amazing piece of history but to Mexico this marks a new beginning. The trains are coming back to Mexico. Canada, US and Mexico are now fully connected by rails and Mexico is investing heavily on reviving its once great rail network. They are also competing with Panama by building its own rail “canal” at the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and the Tren Maya in the Yucatán peninsula. Mexico has plans to connect the Maya Train to Belize and Guatemala. Americans and Canadians should be happy about this because Mexico is quickly becoming industrialized and bringing back all the manufacturing jobs from Asia. This will not only benefit Mexico but all of North America and Mexico doesn’t want to leave Central America behind. Helping Central America will be the only viable way to reduce mass migration. Mexico has a great plan but America is way too proud to admit it’s right. American politicians keep pushing the anti Mexico/invade Mexico agenda because they can’t stand the thought of Mexico becoming a Leftist, Humanitarian country that renationalized the petroleum and electric industries as well as nationalizing lithium. Current Mexican President AMLO has gained so much respect for Mexico around the world in the last 6 years and has started a movement called the 4th Transformation of Mexico. Now Claudia Sheinbaum, the new president elect of Mexico, will continue with what’s is referred to as the 2nd level of the 4th Transformation. Remember that American politicians know that there always needs to be an enemy and they sadly keep making it Mexico and its people. Mexico has always been a humanitarian country that remains neutral helps anyone that needs it (to a point of even helping others before its own people) and always asks for peace among nations. America is just too greedy and proud to allow Mexico to solve its issues. They create the problem and try to force their own solution on you, and that solution hardly ever helps your country.
