I remember this I was in Garland, Texas it scared the living shit out of me

That was almost exclusively power flashes and very little lightning between the 5-7 min mark, followed by sheet lightning for the remainder of the footage. You definitely had a rain wrapped low scale tornado fairly close by, which even an ef0 can cause bad damage, but thankfully you got lucky.
@rar65467 ай бұрын
No power flashes or tornado, just bright lightning. If there were power flashes, or as many as you may be alluding to, the power would've gone out. I live in Plano, again no tornado.
@dianefarley379 ай бұрын
Powerflashes can be orange or white, too. They move more slowly than lightning. You need experience to tell the difference, but it can be hard to know.

Great video! Making storm vids is some of the best fun to have! "Spider lightning" is actually known as anvil lightning, if I suppose correctly. It comes from the underside of the thunderstorm's anvil.

Hope you get to safety if you’re under a tornado warning. Your life and the life of your dog is more important than you being outside taping the storm. The alarms going off and the power flashes are a good indicator that your in the path of a tornado…. Get to safety NOW! Secondly if you hear a” freight train “ and you don’t live near a train track you can bet that it is a tornado 🌪️! Even more reason to get into a storm shelter or storm room!

Tornados coming & your worried about the carpet getting wet Lmao. Should be lucky the tornado didnt come & destroy the house then the carpet wet would be the least problem!

I think, from examining the map, that what you were witnessing was the edge of a rain-wrapped tornado that was going through or near Jefferson.TX. I could be wrong but the data seems to say it.
@rar65467 ай бұрын
Jefferson Tx is a three hour drive from Plano so no probably not. Look at the date of this video also. That would be a gargantuan tornado if so.
@melissahoffman4687 Жыл бұрын
That jet engine sound is a tornado. It was probably rain wrapped.
@rar65467 ай бұрын
No tornado, the wind was really not that loud just typical strong storm. They will sound the sirens even if there is chance for small hail. Wind certainly not 80 mph, would have been more damage. Not even severe in this video. Does not seem the guy knows what jet engine wind really sounds like. And really only bright lightning nothing more.

You guys are so lucky. I live on the Isle of Skye in the Scottish highlands, (not far from the castle that’s in Highlander movie), and although we get stormy weather a lot, it’s usually gales, rain and sleet and we rarely get proper thunderstorms. I’d love to visit Texas and the Midwest and southwest of the USA and see some proper badass lighting! I’m 45 and my kids have grown up and left home and if I win the lottery I’m buying a plane ticket and hiring a car and spending the rest of my life bumbling about the USA! Until then, videos like this are fantastic! Stay safe you lovely Texan folk and bonus points for having a gorgeous pooch!
