'Bravo' doesn't do justice to this artist. What a voice and rendition. Bastianini has always been the reference for this aria, but Teixeira is right up there with him. So glad I'm discovering this wonderful voice.

Is this in D major?! I didn’t know it was published in that key. The recit is in D flat as usual and then there’s a little change to the woodwind introduction to the aria that puts it a semitone lower!

Zancanaro always had one of the most beautiful and satisfying Baritone voices of all. First time hearing his Prologue. With that gorgeous G at the end, he must have had the A flat. Never heard him sing one, actually. Doesn’t matter, he’s loved for his voice and wonderful artistry. Had one of the strongest handshakes of anyone I ever met. Like a vise.

His singing and performing had so many strong points, that even at this later stage of his career when the voice was no longer truly there, he was still light years better than anyone else.
