Religion served it's purpose. But at this point we would all be better off without it.

So many more people are addicted to sugar than gambling. Obesity & diabetes are a much greater problem to our overall well being then the cost of gambling habits. So is smoking for that matter. And alcoholism. And those are all perfectly legal. I'm not a gambler. Never have been. But it seems hypocritical to me to go after gamblers when the rest of us stuff ourselves with ice cream, fast food, cigarettes, alcohol & whatever other libations we indulge in. Criminalizing self destructive behavior will put most of us in jail.

All addiction is coming from the reward system in our brain. Drugs, alcohol, religion, gamling and sex even shopping. As we know it reales a bunch of different chemicals! But and you tend to Aguirre higher and higher levels to get satisfied. But this is a part of our brain!.

Fascinating isn't it. All of these people live in the 21st century and take full advantage of the latest science and technology 24/7. Yet, they daily perform absurd mental gymnastics to justify having one foot in the first century. Religion retards the thinking process. Do grow up

This is so stupid to bring Muslim into a debate. They will never admit anything- because they are afraid of the consequences. Then we have the rest of the religious community- they will never accept the wrongdoing their religion is causing and still does. Women haven’t got equality yet- so why even ask- such a TV show should have prepared- and could have played a clip about equal rights for the same job. Human rights have always been opposed to dictatorships, violence and the lack of equality. They might not have achieved that much- but they haven’t used violence against anyone. This alone is more than any religion can claim

This was too short, I could have listened for hours to this debate
These so-called experts are still debating the existence of God because their foundational knowledge is passe. The notion that humanity created the concept of God is supported by several theories. Consider the following points: (1) The Codexation Dilemma, (2) The Caveman in the Box Theory, (3) The Unified Theory of Everything, and (4) The Non-Biological Criteria for Life.

53 30 odd , " And God gave them over to a reprobate mind " , bang on .
There is a difference between creating a god and being a god. When you read a novel you are a god: fictional of course. You are reading a story and evaluating the characters. When you are thinking about your own behavior you are creating a god, imaginarily. The Bible does both for you. It tells miraculous stories and then the god of the bible sits in judgment of the stories' characters. You are expected to accept the deities' conclusion. What you think is irrelavent.

When looking at these factual time periods, remember that the US is less than 250 years old and few people can trace their ancestors that far back. Think about what has changed in the last 500 years and compare it to the changes over millions of years. Evolution is unbelievably slow. 4.6 billion years ago Earth formed 4.2 bya life; 3.5 bya oxygen; 2.1 bya multi cell organism; 560 mya Worms; 505 mya Fish; 340 mya Reptiles and birds 248 to 63 million years ago Dinosaurs roamed the planet 220 mya Mammals; 100 mya primates; 20 mya Great apes; 8 mya Hominina 3.85- 2.95 mya - Australopithecus Afarensis - walked upright, smaller than humans 3.3-2.1 mya - Australopithecus Africanus - long arms, could walk or climb trees 2.4- 1.4 mya - Homo Habilis - First Homo genus species, used of tools & language 2 mya- 143,000 BC Homo Erectus - human-like size, left Africa, had fire & stone hand axes 400,000- 40,000 BC Homo Neanderthalensis, buried dead, created art, used specialized tools 315,000 BC beginning of Homo Sapiens (humans) 180,000 BC Homo sapiens, a dark-skinned species used non-stone tools. 65,000 BC humans migrated throughout Africa, Europe and Asia 30,000-20,000 BC dark-skinned humans arrived in the Americas 30,000 BC to 4000 BC northern populations of skin pigmentation lightened and migrated 10,000 BC world population 4.4 million over seven continents 8000 BC blue eyes appear 5000 BC much lighter skin tones appeared in N Europe; world pop light-dark brown skinned 4113 BC Bible literally says the earth, stars, Adam created; world pop 28.7 million 2457 BC Noah rested ark, world pop 50 million. Biblical time skin color light-dark brown 0 BC “Mary” skin color light-dark brown, not white, not a virgin, Joseph med-dark brown skin 1000 AD world pop 384 million 1500-1600 AD America’s pop decimate by disease and slaughter Known land mass during biblical times less than .01 percent of actual earth land mass All humans want to live and passionately want to believe in life after death. The Bible and most of the 4300 religions on earth support this lust. All religions developed based on ignorance of the true history of life on earth. All religious texts are simply fables designed to support the ignorance that existed when the stories were written. The stories are a well written guide to life once you ignore all the lies. People never live more than 130 years, miracles never happen, virgins don’t give birth, and no one rises from the dead. If the Bible says a person lived 200+ years, they didn’t exist. Most Biblical characters are fictional with a few historical, meaningless exceptions. There is nothing wrong with religious beliefs and you are free to believe whatever you want if you don't fight wars because of your beliefs or infringe on anybody else's ability to live a good life. You must not place limits on women's rights, LGBTIQQ people, or skin color or you're just a hateful hypocrite.

Religion is male dominated because men wrote and invented religion and continue to. They wrote that men own women and left rape out of the ten commandments. There are commandments against lying and stealing but not raping.

One day long a go a person looked up into the sky and saw a bright star and made a wish on that star. The wish may have come true and he thought it was because of the star. He told a friend and it spread. The star became god and the wish is now called prayer.

@josephbelisle5792Ай бұрын
There is no debate. Provide one bit of evidence any god exists. You cant. There isnt. Theist convince themselves there is but no one has found any. Yet science daily provides more and more evodence that the universe operates very well without one. There can be no debate when all the facts support it is mans creation.

Obviously God/gods are man made, and adapted to fit the current political system. But as a trained COE now atheist, how beautiful to hear Satish talk about his beliefs and how accepting of other beliefs . Contrastingly, how concerning is the Muslims narrow and aggressive belief system? For centuries Catholicism was evil personified, and the scourge of mankind, now I think Islam will be the challenge of our time.

In Genesis the bible states that god said Let "us" make man in "our" image so if he's a mono god he has a personality disorder. This is supported by the old testament and all the slaughtering god orders women children infants even the animals killed.

Would it not seem evident that such debates answer the question in the title ? We are all the result of our conception, our environment, our experiences, what we have learned and what not, or felt and have not, seen and not, and so on. This makes us choose and prioritize different things. This is why if you ask a 100 people to write down the answer to "What is God ?" you will got a 100 different answers where different people will emphasize different aspects of it. Everyone creates their own belief system even when one adopts to a theory millions "agree upon". It is rather presumptuous for any human to claim that there is a single creator, which all humans do not even agree with to begin with and then say if there is another world with intelligent life, they would believe that too. I understand what was meant by it, namely that if there is a single creator, by definition life out there should follow the same beliefs. The fallacy here is that what everyone believes is personal. It's a construct.

The fact that this religious claim is being debated is proof men did create Gods.
