@@alyonaaberly i didnt know a Barbour jacket could be saved after being washed and tumble dried. Maybe Barbour are having all of us on in a ploy to buy new jackets if it is machine washed or tumble dried - intentionally or accidentally. Personally I would not do that to mine. I have 4 wax cotton and 2 quilted.

Congratulations on the restoration, it looks outstanding. For what you began with and your results I tip my hat to you. FYI: Notice the left one-third and right one-third of your video is cut off displaying black bars. Reason is you have your camera, cell phone, vertical not horizontal. Every TV screen, computer screen, monitor screen, movie theater screen, and the like are orientated horizontal never vertical. Watching your video is like looking through a tight keyhole or wearing horse blinders. Because it is tall and narrow it is a stick video; not good. It is obvious you are using a cell phone not a real camera, if it were a real camera it would automatically be orientated more wide than tall thus horizontally orientated. Yes, at the 7:20 timeline through the end you do have the camera correctly orientated. When capturing video ALWAYS hold the camera and especially a cell phone horizontal. Be mindful, us humans see our world considerably more horizontal than vertical; may apply to all mammals life forms as well.

If I don't care about the waterproofing, is it okay to wash it in the washing machine? Or, in addition to removing the waterproofing, will I ruin the jacket?

Hi. Thanks for your question. Waxed jacket has waxy slightly shiny texture. I washed mine in 40° and even tumble dried, the waxy layer was completely removed and the jacket became matte, flannel like texture and lighter in colour. But it held its shape fine and other than changing colour and texture it was great. I could have leave it as is and wear it no problem. I just wanted it waterproof, so I rewaxed it as you can see in the video. I'd say if you wash it on cool 30° cycle and leave it to airdry, it should even retain its waxy texture, all depends on how dirty your jacket is. Mine was absolutely filthy and even had some mould on it.

Well, you don't wash it after waxing. Waxed jackets shouldn't be washed to begin with. Unfortunately, i didn't know that and put my waxed jacket into the washing machine. That has ruined waterproof protection of the jacket as all wax was completely stripped. So I rewaxed my jacket as shown on the video. If it gets dirty, you just spot clean with warm damp cloth (not hot). Dirt doesn't stick to the wax much, and whatever does, can be easily removed by cleaning spot with a warm damp cloth. @@arafardy7462 Oh I see what you mean. So I washed mine in a washing machine on 40° cycle. It came out clean. I even tumble dried it on low heat. I know everyone would say this is a big NO. But I did it as mine was absolutely filthy and I saw no other option but washing it. Then I rewaxed it as on the video.

@@luxpursuits No, my jacket didn't shrink a bit. As I washed it in a cool wash and tumble dried it on low, there was no shrinkage. Perhaps it'd shrink if washed and dried in higher temperatures, not sure.

HOLY COW that is gorgeous, you are so so blessed with talent! We just found a really busted up grandfather clock a few mins ago lol. But I think it has so much potential! This is truly a work of art, and I love the cheetah, those paintings of animal heads on human bodies are so cool!
