In the 1960's, I worked on a few of the vertical twins and the single Arrow. One thing I have not heard mentioned is the fact that the ear for the valve rocker breaks off and is often blamed on a sticking valve. My experience tells me that that was seldom the actual cause of this failure. I ran very hard an Arrow that I owned and used it to commute to school in California. When the pushrod housing tube is reassembled, the end next to the crankcase must not contact the crankcase as part of the final assembly. The engine vibration is like a hammer against the end of the tube, thereby, transmitting a shock through the tube into the ear of the cylinder head resulting in the broken ear. DAN

Ale fajnie gada. Ja mam Malcherka ale nawet nie wiem jaki ma dźwięk ten silnik. Nie odpalany od 40 lat ponad przeleżał w skrzynce po czereśniach u dziadka. 🤣

If only Vellocette had made this and the air cooled version a 350 instead of sub 200cc. If they had done then a simple change to bore and stroke would have given them a 250 and 450, effectively giving them 3 bikes for one design. The 250cc was top of the shop here in the UK for learner riders at the time and the 350cc was a popular size in the US

Sounds sick. We had one of those. We put a base up on the tank, and strapped our dachshund on it. Used to love riding the bike. But we lived atop a steep winding hill, and I am sure that one would not make it up the way it sounds. And then you might be interested that there was an air-cooled Sport framed version. I rode that, but never owned it. Now that was the best handling bike I ever rode.
