Do you have any tips on the fear of your board breaking? I have a toy machine which is really good from what others have said and my own experience but it took me forever to get this board and I’m so scared of breaking it and not being able to skate for a very long time

0:41 Are you sure you do not mean: "The initial learning curve is essentially horizontal" instead of "vertical"? A vertical learning curve is the most steep possible. And a steep learning curve means you progress fast.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I think I did my first maybe partial ollie. Im 38 and started last Nov. I practiced on a workout rug just so I can feel what the form feels like but as soon as I do get the motion how i want it im only practicing in motion on the street/my skatepark

I know this video is old, but following the 'pushing to a horizontal direction logic'. Wouldn't you be able to push off multiple times anywhere on a downwars slope?

Learning how to fall in judo, a Japanese martial art, has been extremely useful. Since you are thrown onto tatami mats, you can avoid injuries. In Japanese middle schools, almost all male students learn judo.

i feel like you should practice on flat ground instead of on a surface that makes you stabler than usual because it'll allow you to get a feel of how you need to balance on the board after doing the ollie theres still nothing wrong with doing it the way he showed but i think its just better to be able to get a feel of how the board reacts when you land on it do you can get better at rolling ollies faster

In China, we are actually required to explain this phenomenon in high school. It always gave me headaches back then.

Today I went out to skate my sidewalks feeling cocky with my past few days of practice, and I was punished for my cockiness when I least expected it. It feels good though. Each fall is a lesson, and a reminder that you’re having fun living!

I did it but I didn’t manual before the drop in and my back truck got caught. I would roll in with my back truck hitting the coping and I lift it with my nose but I got caught and fell straight to my shoulder off the quarter pipe.

if you want to bring up your back foot, make sure youre jumping off your back foot. with power, the back foot is easy to bring up.
@lalilalulu2 ай бұрын
because most of the jumping power actually come from the back foot. youre jumping off your back truck. thinking it as a back foot jump is also gonna help with your pop

You have barely any control with your foot perpendicular - 1:53 wobble shows. Best approach is middle ground having it at a slight angle for more control (Without front foot going outside of the deck)
@NeverStopImprovingSB3 ай бұрын
It's a good point, I think this way could provide even more stability if it suits you.
