1:08:23 They're not alive, it's an illusion. But he'll kill to keep that illusion going. Seeing the strong friendships - I guess it reminds him of what he's lost and that this is in fact all an illusion. I feel pity for him but it's a kind of pity that adds to the horror instead of taking it away., if that makes sense.

I watched this movie and when I heard "She never woke up" I cried for 2 hours straight and it wasnt even just tears itwas all out devastated anime sad guy type crying.. I cried even more once I realised that the begining of the movie and the end kinda connected and that gaurd threw away her ashes while the kid died in that station

Godzilla Minus One and this movie together well illustrate the lack of respect for human life that Japan had sank to during WWII. In that context these two movies make sense and form a beautiful picture of the best and worst of humanity. This movie shows what Japan was, Godzilla Minus One showed how they pulled themselves out of this.
