Hi Vijay, I am in 8th Grade. I am doing a Music project on you, and I find you really interesting. I am also an Indian, and a Tamilian, so out of all the jazz musicians on my list, I chose you. And, I am very glad I chose you, because you can definitely help me with an A+.

music is about the world it is created in. this trio is for me like a perfect mirror of the present. uncensored. like the opposite of for ex. swing music in the swing area, that was pretty cheesy and a distraction of reality. (though i love swing music too :)).

I found this band a little cerebral at first but there was something powerful there. I kept listening and it opened up to me, these are the best listening experiences. I think it's extremely emotional and colourful, one of the best things I've heard in years.

They are listening to each other, it's just very complex and difficult to get in one listen. Remember these people are very advanced musicians and sometimes people enjoy music that is less simple.

You should consider simasuma's comment, I agree that if you one who had studied this music for an extended period if time, you would understand the accomplishments of Iyers compositions and arrangements.

The vamp in Historicity is a cycle of 2 bars of 4/4 and a bar of 5/16. it sounded way cooler once i realized this haha. Vijay is one of my favorite artists right now, and he went to my high school! :)

absolutely adore these musicians in their own bands and as sidemen but I can't get into Fieldwork at all. Too intellectual for me.

This is really really cool. The pianist held it together and the drummer, I have no idea how he kept such a complicated rhythm that whole time, and the sax that was such good accompaniment. I've never heard of any of these guys before but I'll certainly be looking out for them in the future. Do they have a band name?
