This is a sad and an uplifting update. Sad about the reef and, of course, Haiti. Uplifting that there remain remote spaces to enjoy. Thank you.

Love watching this classic Hinckley sail. One thing I noticed when you were racing is that the genoa sheet fairlead could be shifted aft a bit more to improve the sail shape and get a *tiny* bit more speed. Looks beautiful, enjoy!
@steveclayton8749Ай бұрын
WOW! Perhaps, you've got good eyes! I was trying to pull the top of the sail tighter rather than the foot. This sail seems to like a little more belly in the bottom. If you tighten up the foot you can pinch a little more but you dump some wind off the top.

How about more Drone footage... or is it illegal to use Drones there.
@sailingwithgrace4522Ай бұрын
Drone footage techincally needs permission from the bahamian government. Random unocupied islands in the exhmas are one thing, ocupied islands are another.

Your audio is coming out "tinny". what kind of Mic are you using? I'm going to "contact in the desert" and using my iPhone to video document it all. I get my Electric Wheelchair next week. It will give me heaps of freedom.
@steveclayton8749Ай бұрын
It's usually just the mic on the Go-Pro, but when we try to isolate the voice with noise reduction it turns out tinny... sorry.

Hi Stephan, great video as always. Thanx for taking me aboard Grace. You are definately "out producing" me. But you got some extra hands in editing your video. I'm using DaVinche Pro, and I just upgraed my Ableton Live, and got a midi keyboard, but lack the health in putting it all together. As usual, you got yet another "Like" from me, keep up the good work... 74 degrees is cold... Hah! Yea dude... Nothing yet from the FCC, still pending.

Awesome guys, I thought it was going to require a part build those round binnacles don't have a lot of room... glad you have it solved and are able to make way again.
@steveclayton87492 ай бұрын
I love steel stick epoxy! I can make most anything out of it. We didn't get it filmed but my first iteration was too large and I couldn't get it through the little space between the round wall and the chain. I considered making a part out of metal but this was faster. I still think a metal one would be better.

Howdy from the Dixie Chile Ranch. Enjoy watching your videos. They take me back to my sailing days on the West Coast. Being I've always had a sensitive inner ear getting seasick or motion sick was a continuing experience. I finally found a cure for it. Anytime I was the helmsman I never got seasick. I think the reason was I was focusing on the horizon and the compass heading along with keeping the sails full. This was true even when motoring whether I was on my sailboat or at the helm of my Grand Banks trawler. Anytime I wasn't at the helm I would feel queasy. And going below was the worst. Looks like you're enjoying your sailing adventures

@@steveclayton8749 Thank you, that's very flattering. I'm sure it could be done, just not sure it would be affordable being it would need to be overnighted with icepacks. Any Farmers Markets in the Bahamas. What about a CSA?

Last comment NOT true. Sometimes it's best to stay out and run home in bad weather because forecast is for worse.
@steveclayton87494 ай бұрын
Agreed there are times when it’s more dangerous to be around other boats and shore. But generally speaking people seem to get impatient and will head out in bad weather when a little patience would be safer. The sea is contrary enough without us making matters worse by heading off shore for the wrong reasons. That was my point.
