This boss seems to have a hit box issue. Sometimes attacking it from each side doesn't work. Up and down sides are fine though.

It seems if you prematurely consider an area finished, as in leave or something like that, the place becomes colored-done, so to speak. My next gameplay this region was fine but then this other place suffered same issue and I remember being prematurely certain there.
