Ty Lou and Rondo are the best candidates in my opinion, with JJ being a wildcard, because not much is known about him in a coaching sense. I will say that from watching him on TV, he seems too convinced in his beliefs of what is fact or not to be a yes man, which is a plus. We know Ty Lou cussed LBJ out before, so he can handle LBJ, and Rondo isn’t going to settle for suboptimal play on either side of the court, as he’s going to lose his shit if LBJ does stupid Hero ball stuff Rondo himself wouldn’t have done. Hell, Rondo is not so far removed, that in practice he might even dress up in 5v5 to make a point 😂. I’ve been saying for years that Ty Lou is a great head coach, because when the Cavs fired Blatt for spotting up Kevin Love in the corner and not using him well, Ty Lou made excellent adjustments to make it work. I would go so far as to say that not even Spoelstra could make good use of Chris Bosh, and basically had him in spot ups a lot too. Ty Lou is a coach that has a proven track record of not forcing an offense onto a team, and designing an offense tailor made just for the star players they have. Ty Lou isn’t a ‘modern NBA’ stats slave, and isn’t going to play small ball and spread out for the sake of chucking 3s unless that is what the team is built to do. I have no doubt in my mind that Ty Lou should be the top candidate on this list, although I think Rondo could potentially be even better than him, but I think the Lakers may not have had him on the list, because he’s in the midst of legal issues, and if it got out he was a coaching candidate, his rulings in court could be made in such a way to screw him out of the job. I don’t know if they are considering Rondo or not, but I think if they are, it’s better if they leave that undercover. Im out on Bud, but I don’t think he was a small ball slave like Ham. Bud had a big team, and he used them, but they didn’t have any back up centers, just a bench of guards coming off the bench with Portia as the sole big man, so I’m sure they were small at times, but their starting line-up is huge, although Brook is usually out on the perimeter, so that size might be overstated a bit, so I’m not going to go as far as saying that Bud is more of the same just because Ham came from his coaching tree. For example, Luke Walton came from the Kerr/Phil tree, and you wouldn’t say that Luke’s failure is an indictment on them. Hell, those coaches ran motion offense, and Luke claimed he didn’t want to run on in LA, because the team is too young and not smart enough to understand, which was a mistake, because they were young moldable players. We saw how Carmelo rebelled against Derrick Fisher/Phil’s triangle offense, despite that offense being perfect for Carmelo. Bud is just clearly another coach that doesn’t optimize his roster, and will be a yes man to LBJ, but I wouldn’t dare put him in the same tier as Ham. Bud is actually a solid head coach, and has the resume to back it up, but I think most of that is regular season fluff, as he has had a very talented Bucks squad that should have been able to win 2 rings, but the Bucks just got outplayed by less talented teams. Could we win a chip with Bud…yeah, but we don’t want to do things the hard way anymore, and we need a coach that fits post LBJ, and Bud simply isn’t in the top 3 on of the coaching prospects you mentioned. Kenny Atkinson is one of those ‘modern NBA’ proponents that is a stats slave. Is he mike D’antoni esque? No, but I don’t think he’s going to run an offense that suits the Lakers’ stars. I think he will try to force the status quo offense on the Lakers, no different from Ham. Kenny Atkinson, even if he uses a ‘modern’ offense that I don’t think optimizes the Lakers’ stars, he is still a far better coach than Ham. I wouldn’t be mad if we hired him, because I think that what he did with the young Nets, and his wisdom to see what firestorm was coming to the Nets, proves he’s an intelligent man. I think he will be significantly better than Ham and Vogel were, and we could win a chip with him, because he’s a good coach, but I don’t think he fits our team better than Ty Lou or Rondo. For some time I didn’t like Kenny Atkinson as a coach, because I believe he could have had a star in Jahlil Okafor, who was never given a chance in the league, because just like James Wiseman, being drafted by a team that doesn’t need you, but drafted you because you were the best prospect at their pick, knowing they are just going to trade you later, kills their careers. Those teams don’t invest in you, and they cause you to have a terrible start, and some players don’t come back from that when they are then traded to other teams that view them as a project rather than the #2 pick with star potential, only because you weren’t used on the team that drafted you. I’m so glad Ayton went to the Blazers, because he too could have and arguably was being mismanaged. So when Okafor was traded to the Nets, I was hoping they would use him, but Kenny refused to play this man despite Okafor being dominant every opportunity he got. Kenny claimed it was for defensive reasons, so while I do not like how he handled Okafor, at least he did what he did for the sake of defense. I hope Kenny has that same energy towards defense, because Ham just went in all on offense, which is all good and dandy when we are rolling, but when we can’t score in the half-court, and our defense isn’t good enough to get stops and get into fast breaks, then we have no ways to get that offense rolling again, and the other team continues to roll us. So despite my biases, I can still say Kenny Atkinson would make a good coach, but if he didn’t want to deal with Kyrie and Durant, I don’t know how he’s going to do with LBJ blowing coverages on defense.

I'd probably agree with that. Although, i am a strong Advocate for David Adleman being he is a coach's son in HOF HC Rick Adleman. David is on the Nuggets & apparently he is tasked to run the offensive schematics among other aspects but i like how Nuggets share the ball & their offensive schematics overall so he is high on my list of coaching options. Ofc, we know Ty Lou isn't available atm & the clippers may be petty & keep him just so we don't get him lol. I would not be shocked. I also like Micah Nori of the Wolves who is a good asst as well so i'd probably place them over Rondo. I like Atkinson as well & probably place over Rondo but IF lue was available i'd take lue over everyone for championship pedigree, bron familiarity and overall his coaching. Although, he does play small a lot which i dont like but the clippers lack size in the front court so thats probably why & Zubac is unplayable a lot down the stretch to be fair. Perhaps you may be right on the Bosh aspect but i do think it's difficult to coach around Lebron which having players stand in the corner in the bron system. Yeah i agree on Ty and what you're saying. Some folks are saying JJ could be a ty Lue/Pat riley type lol and i think thats going too far but who knows. Yeah Rondo not on the list to be interviewed reportedly & idk if thats because of the legal matters he's facing or has faced off the court or whatever but i wish he was on the list and or at the least i'd like him to be an asst coach on the lakers coaching staff. Well good thing the suns hired Bud lol so we good there. Im not trying to hire someone that Ham learned from lol. Exactly he is lol. Giannis saved that man's job when they won a chip cause he was set to get canned. To be even more scrupulous i can make the argument that Kyrie & Harden plus KD big ass toe lol saved Bud's job cause no diss to the Bucks but they wouldn't of won lol & KD nearly beat them by himself lol. Even with just Kyrie or Harden they could of beat the Bucks. Coach Bud adjustments was suspect as well & rotations at times leading to complications down the road & not adjusting to teams building a wall around Giannis. Offense was too predictable and didnt have enough zest/ imagination. Right couldn't agree more on what u said on Bud. We need a HC for now & post bron so we have to hit a homerun on this next coaching hire. Thats probably far being Atkinson didn't make it as far as ham as a HC. The reason i like Atkinson because of his ability to be a good PG coach & to develop talent as he did with the Nets. I think with more time with Kerr he probably has learned more from his previous HC'ing stint but who knows so it's somewhat of a risk to be fair & your pts of him or criticisms of him are fair. Naw he doesn't fit it more than Lue. I think If we was going youth movement with or without AD than yeah. However, i do believe he has good potential to be a more rounded coach pass development. I was impressed with his work turning Dlo into an all star & putting guys like Allen on the map & the Nets at the time on the map when they was ass prior. So that tells me he can take talent & mold it into something good or better than expected. Yeah with Okafor i believe it was the defensive issues & slow feet he had which Kenny wasn't keen on being he apparently likes to play switch defense or likes his bigs to be able to do that so with okafor falling at that time to be out of the league Kenny wasn't into him so that unfortunate but i believe u gotta have a more athletic team that can cover ground for Okafor being he's pretty slow footed & not a good rim protector at all so he only provides half court offense as a go to option as big in the post & he plays slow with Atkinson liking more up tempo to a degree so Okafor didn''t really fit what Kenny was trying to do there. Yeah we'll see what happens. Like that the lakers are taking their time here. Their deadline is to have a HC in place 1 week before the draft tops.

Trading for Dejounte wouldn’t have changed the fate of our matchup with Denver. We have guards that can stay with Murray. Murray was blowing past guys. He hit daggers over great contests. Our main issue with Denver is Jokic. Trading for a more athletic guard is still what we need in general, but against Denver, that guy is just going to get screened out the play all the same. It’s what happened Schroeder and Vando last year. Lakers need to be able to play defense without doubling Jokic half the time. It’s doubling Jokic that is why all these other guys on Denver pop off. So do we need better 2-way athletes at the guard spots? Sure, but until we get a proper center, we still lose to Denver. Maybe with Dejounte we win 2 games this series instead of 1, but we still lose.
@TheLakeShow6 ай бұрын
I agree but it would improve our future given Dejounte's ceiling is high esp as a top imo 30-45 player in the NBA plus his age & two way impact on a team friendly contract under 30 mill its definitely something you want to have but lakers decided not trade so now they have 3 firsts round picks plus swaps, plus 3-4 second rounders. I believe they should disperse their assets with young talent to trade to address starting center, starting PG, back up bruising centers, and two way players at all other positions off the bench that are physical and lastly a Shot creator like a malik monk type. If lakers can do that plus add a good HC they will be back in business imo if not get a top 10-20 all star player but the issue is depth so we will see come the off season how they move the needle with competing against Wolves, OKC, and Nuggets etc.
