Thanks for a great video. Are you planning to do a video on how to size water lines for fixtures in a house?

Mine looks way different than that! Probably why mine shuts off after about 6min of running. Thank you for explaining in a way I understand, I realize now to add check valves to mine and put a low flow. Thanks again!

Another great video from you! Thank you for describing this so thoroughly at a quick pace that lets me share your vids and use them to plan my plumbing fixes. Just wanted you to know that I appreciate what you're doing here and that your videos let me put ideas into action

I agree you say more in 4 minutes than others say in an hour! I understand exactly what you mean! Your videos changed my life (good plumbing is life changing!), I've replaced iron with PVC on 2 of my sinks so far--thank you!

That’s a terrible topology if those are the actual fixture locations. The toilet should be on a tee, and tub/shower and sink should join upstream of the toilet.

Well I have a drain problem I can't figure out. I have a hundred year old house, balloon framed, and plumbing was added after it was built. Old plumbing. I have a bathtub upstairs that drains slowly unless I put a drinking straw in the drain as it is draining, then the draining speeds up, flowing much more freely, so I believe I have a venting problem. There is a 4" soil / vent stack nearby that goes through the roof. Where is my blockage? I've tried snaking the tub drain but I don't get very far. I believe the plumbing must make some sharp turns or something, so no luck there. If I put a garden hose into the vent / soil stack from on top of the roof, all that water flows find, out to the street. So where is my vent blockage or lack of adequate venting? If my vent begins where the tub drain meets the soil / vent stack and goes up, well that should never get blocked but if it did, the vent / soil stack wouldn't be able to handle all a water hose could give it, but it does. I don't get it. I don't know what to try next. To access the plumbing, I would have to cut an access hole through the wall and maybe do some more cutting in the floor once I look inside, as there is a build out around the old cast iron tub which has tile on it. I don't know what to try next.

I'm wondering about this "pressure" test. The test sample is completely filled with water, no air pockets. Pressure is applied and then the valve is closed. Supposedly you cannot compress a liquid (at least at typical water pressures). So when the valve is closed, is there really any pressure in the test sample? Just wondering...

Mines coming out the wall and it needs to rotate 90° and I cant do it because it will "S" the pipes and not drain properly

Made it clear to a complete novice why the necessity of a vent, the simple straw was a perfect answer as to the mechanics of the air-water function. Than you

I'm in Europe trying to fix a botched plumbing job by a Portuguese plumber. Not only was this video extremely helpful but it let me know there's options here in Europe. Thanks so much! Can you include the name of the company in your video description?

I don't know what code book your using. You can't flat wet vent . It look like a combination system . But your sizing would be wrong . We must do stuff differnt in Los Angeles .

Pretty sure the code states each fixture needs to tie into the wet vent individually, i don't believe how you have that set up is legal. You'd need a separate wye to go to the lav after the first wye where you pick up the tub for that to be a proper set up.

❤😮❤ Jeffery ? Question it appears my vent pipe is clogged up? Running 2 gallon water of water down drain down My lavatory drain causes my toilet to bubble then siphoned till sucks empty. ❤😮❤ it started after the water authority did some work on the main sewer line. The bathtub started backing up with water when the washing machine would cycle to drain ... The toilet was flushing ok then the washing machine and bath tube would drain now the toilet and sink interact as stated ❤😮❤

In Toronto Ontario we have the same requirement by code but ours says its a minimum of 1.5m which is about 5' (We use both metric and imperial.) Interesting how the values differ from one place to another yet are done for the same reason.

you failed . Rule number 1 is never have a commode at the end of your gut line, it is to branch off of the gut line so that a sewer snake cant go up stream and into the toilet to and cause it to break and flood the structure

@ 0:20 the code says : The waste from an automatic clothes washer shall connect to a vertical drain of not less than 2 inches in diameter, or a horizontal drain of not less than 3 inches in diameter. IMO since you have a vertical drain (2 in diam.) that 3 in diam horizontal section does not apply.

what do you mean by the center outlet of the drain line is within 12 inches of the floor plane? I am installing a toilet and have only 2x8 to deal with and am about 4 ft from the vertical drain line going down from the second floor.
