Great voice. Lots of the climax sat in Jemma's register transition. The performance sounded as though Jemma was singing louder than planned or practiced. This impacted phrasing and register use. Head and whistle tones require performers to have a combination of relaxed vocal folds and solid diaphragm support. This is reliant on adequate air being available, without which singers often unconsciously begin to tense up and tighten our vocal folds. Jemma repeatedly reset and relaxed tension. I wonder if planning more of the register transition to be sung in head voice could have benefited the performance. Doing so would have been more economical with air and made the lower range sections be a more distinct timbre.
