I have the 08 AE model. I recently rode a 2023 ES model for 5 days. The 23 with the 6-speed felt a little torquer through the low RPM range. However I did notice there was more shifting required where the five speed matches the power spread pretty well. The 23 electronics are modernized including the ECU and elec adjustable suspension but I paid five times less for my gen 2 bike and upgraded to high-end suspension with the savings. I ride solo I don't need to make large suspension adjustments. The riding traction modes don't do much for me but the one thing I would want in the Gen 3 plus bikes would be the Factory cruise control . Other than that I think it's a toss-up because I have the trick Auto clutch which ended in 09 in the USA. Bottom line is I would get any version except for the Gen 1 because that model cooks your legs with engine heat and I don't think it has abs which is a good feature on unfamiliar roads and changing weather.

I'm thinking about trading my Street Glide Special for a 2024 FJR.
@f3vermonkey31821 күн бұрын
I have owned 3 street glides. The FJR will not come close to the comfort of a HD touring bike. The FJR is more sport thann touring. If you are planning on NOT going on really long rides and want better handling, then the FHJR is awesome. Different bikes for different applications. I recommend thinking about the specific use case of the FJR verses the Street Glide and see how well they align with you.

I rode dirt all through childhood and rode a YZF600R daily for a couple of years in my early 20's before making myself give up riding as I was getting too comfortable and pushing things a bit much on the streets of Dallas. Fast forward 20 years and I really want to get back on, and have had tunnel vision on a 2016+ FJR since I started looking at what the market offers these days. Do you think it would be a good fit? Sport touring feels about right for how I intend to ride these days. Congrats on your bike, and those roads look great!

Back then when you bought a new Harley, the dealer could provide a genuine Harley stage 1 kit which were all Harley parts: headers and exhaust with no cats, a larger bigger breathing air filter/ventilator AND they flashed a new map to the ECU - this was all Harley including the flashed ECU. That’s what this bike has.

@f3vermonkey3185 ай бұрын
I can tell you where you may have done 800 comfortable miles in a day on your ‘Wing, the FJR will not come close to that. Compared to a sport bike the FJR is comfortable. Compared to a true touring bike, the FJR will not be the cozy iron butt motorcycle where you do close to 1,000 miles in a day.
