I lived right up the hill from there until last year in Old Towne. It was creepy that day. I remember I was recovering from a surgery and all this traffic kept driving by. Come to find out they only had MINUTES to evacuate that trailer park(s) and businesses Then I started to look on the live feeds of Sarpy County sheriffs boating around checking on places that were underwater a day or two later. Surreal. I actually helped out a person who lost everything by letting them stay for close to a week until they got their FEMA check(which was about a grand) and she found her own place. The sad thing is she JUST moved there about a month and a half at Green Acres! Then the owner of Paradise Lakes homes bailed and still charged people rent while their houses were underwater!! A lot of people lost money in that as well as the flood. That made the news!! I DO NOT like Bellevue anymore. Especially Old Towne. It’s the “Ghetto” of Sarpy county and VERY corrupt.

Good and thorough review. The technical term for the placard on the DRGW locomotive is ACI or Automatic Car Identification, which preceded more modern methods of identifying cars, like RFID. It as found that the bar codes would get dirty and not work and better methods were developed.

I chased it from Denton, Tx to Durant, Ok that day with the family. This was my 3rd time seeinng it and this was the first time with the family. They had a lot of fun seeing it in person. I was at the same Buc-ee's as u but I was there from 8am till the Big Boy came thru Denton.

The "D" rings are replacement knuckles for couplers. If we break a knuckle on the train and its far, we drop one on the ground. The conductor goes to the break and close the airhose angle cock. I pull him up to where we drop the knuckle. He places it on a end walk way and then the engineer shoves him back to the break and he fixes the coupler and makes the joint. After a set and release on the brake air, we are set to go. Couplers way between 65 pounds to 85 pounds.

The "Snoot" (long) nose on the units was for housing extra radio equipment to communicate with other specifically equipped locos for unmanned helper service. Allowed the helpers to be controlled from the head end. Some were transmitters for the head end, and others were set up to be the receiving units. They then MUed to the other helper engines back in the train. Basically early version of DPU technology today.

The piece that fell off is the bar code for the locomotive that could be read by trackside readers to tell the RR where it is. Cars also had them. I'm not sure if that is still used today.

The little placard that fell off was barcode that railroads used. A scanner would read in it as the train went by to keep track of cars and locomotives. Now they have a RFID on cars that do the same thing and GPS.

Im still not happy the Scale Trains cancelled their CSX GE44 Law Enforcement. They lost some of the molds. So now it will be a few more years for their rivet counter version

Upon further research, I found that this loco is now a C44ACM after modified from an AC6000CW. Original number was UP 7549 which became UP 6947 (1st) in error, later corrected to 6937.

My favorite thing about Micro Trains is that they actually treat their employees like human beings. Not every manufacturer can claim that. Also, you're right on about the pears. The Rogue Valley has hundreds of acres of pear orchards ( mostly Harry and David) and has for over 90 years.

I've had success avoiding splintering the panels by spraying Windex on the back side and letting it soak in for a few minutes before bending the panel. After it's attached and dries in place, it retains the new shape if you have to remove it for any reason. Not sure which chemical it is in Windex, but generic brands don't work nearly as well.
