Pretty good film, but there is one thing undercutting it all. For me the real horror comes from seeing characters that are smart and genuinely competent, but still fail because of circumstances beyond their reach. Here? This mechanic does everything wrong. He removes shrapnel putting himself at risk of bleeding out. He leaves the pod despite warnings and incoming rescue team. He wasted supplies. Finally, he shot and became agressive first which may as well have provoked those beings and brought death to rescue team as well since they followed him back to them. It's just wrong move after a wrong move which honestly doesn't make it as engaging. In comparison, take a look at classics like Alien or Predator. In Alien, the team (despite Ripley warnings) made two real mistakes. They brought Kane onboard and let him out of quarantine, but beside that they did everything correctly and as best as they could, but Alien was better. In Predator, the team actually did everything correctly, but Predator was just an unknown and competent hunter until he himself got blindsided as well. That build tension and stakes. Here? You just watch to see how much of a mistake actions of mechanic will be. He tried becoming a Hero (Do you feel like a Hero yet?) and he and others paid the price

Ok look, for a student creation, animations are decent but nothing special. The idea though.. There is no brain cell present in kids nowadays. I mean.. my God, people literally worship the most horrible trash than can anyone think of.. Not even sure what was the point of creating and animating something that has been repeated through the ages(horror, destruction, agony, retardness) while having not a single creativity point to present? If its just for animation purposes then, u know, there are other ways too. Not just evil stupid shit.
