Def sweet setup mike! I’m a big riverrat. How does that anchor do with much current?
@jagermiker3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Josh! The anchor does surprisingly well but if it's not enough, switching to a heavier anchor is a breeze.

Hey Mike, this was a great video thank you for showing us all of the features. I’m definitely sold on this product. For me, the width was my main concern..So I looked at all the specs for the models and narrowed it down to the Unlimited and the Frontier. For me, I’m just a recreational fisherman so my setup would likely be one rod, minimal tackle, maybe/maybe not a net, cooler, trolling motor, and I really love the front anchor accessory that you showed in the video! That damn rope can be a mess sometimes so I love that design. I need the width to conserve space for my dog, and she comes with me on every fishing adventure. Now, based off of your experience.. What model would you likely recommend more based on the information I provided? I trust your judgement so any information would be greatly appreciated. Ps I also love that light set up! I can definitely see myself trying to replicate something similar. Great video man!

Hey Tyler, thanks for the kind words! The Frontier 12 (F12) and UNLIMITED are two fantastic kayaks and undoubtedly the most stable you'll find. The F12 is going to be a tad more stable but the UNLIMITED is really close. If you're a minimalist and don't pack a lot of gear, it's still a toss up between the two but if you like bringing your pup with you, I'd lean more towards the UNLIMITED. With no front hatch and it being 6" longer than the F12, there's a lot more room for her to sit/lay in front of you. Additionally, the UNLIMITED paddles better for those days you don't feel like messing with your trolling motor so that's another plus and finally, all of the extra aluminum track and other features like the access panels, paddle keeper handles and rigid rear handle make it a no brainer in my opinion. One other thing to consider regardless of which model you go with is the deck surface. Plastic is slick and doesn't provide a good surface for your dog to get a grip on. I highly recommend the decking completion kit. It looks great, works as a sound deadner, keeps the deck cooler to the touch, provides padding and will provide some much needed traction for your pup, allowing her to be much more comfortable and confident with her footing. Reach out with any other questions man and you really can't go wrong with eather model!
@Whoscararewetaking3 жыл бұрын
@@jagermiker Mike, what would you recommend for some interior traction? I never even though about that and it’s probably the most important factor!

All NuCanoe kayaks come with the "Basic Decking Kit" installed. It's the EVA foam pads on the deck in front of the seat. The "Completion Kit" is pads for the remaining areas not covered by the basic kit. For example on the Unlimited - www.nucanoe.com/product/unlimited-completion-decking-kit/

I bought same year boat used this year with swivel seat. Sits high and feels unstable at first but, quickly feels rock steady. Had it out in moderate chop on Banana river last week. Never felt like I was not in control. Paddled about a mile against a 10 knot wind just to see how it would do. Very pleased. Will drop to a low position soon to try. I had that anchor system on another kayak dropping off stern. Did not like it. 1 reason is if I needed to get away from being anchored, can't do it. I was anchored in a current. Anchor hung up on rocks. Current about pulled me under.

Mainly fish the bays on the Texas coast. Thinking of either the pursuit or frontier 12, plan to add a small outboard. Seems like the the pursuit would be better for the chop of the bay, but it would be fun have a tandem set up so my wife could go with sometimes. Decisions...
@jagermiker5 жыл бұрын
If wanting the possibility of going tandem and for use with an outboard motor, I'd definitely go with the Frontier 12. The Pursuit is a fantastic premium fishing kayak but for what you've described, I think the F12 would be more versatile and serve as a dual purpose fishing kayak.

I'm a T-7 paraplegic, Im glad to see someone else as driven as myself, I just got a lifetime tamerack a few months back and I'm ready to upgrade already. As you know seating is important, so how is that seat for long durations of sitting?
@jagermiker5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment Gary! I find the seat to be very comfortable. All day trips are a breeze, no worries there. I've fished for 8 hour tournaments without pain and even one that was a 12 hour trip. When I do get uncomfortable or need to relieve pressure, I can lay the seat back and lay back somewhat to ease my bad back (fused from C5 to my hips). I do use my seat cushion from my wheelchair when I'll be out for extended periods but even without it, I've never had any issues.

Just got a 2019 pursuit no swivel seat base was included do you like it better with swivel base? And have you noticed if you lean with all your weight to one side it seems to want to tip over?
@jagermiker5 жыл бұрын
The swivel base became an option in 2019. Most like it if running a trolling motor or if they want to turn sideways and dangle their feet in the water. I personally don't use it other than for transferring in and out. If the seat is sideways and you lean back it will definitely get your attention but I've never flipped.

@@jagermiker i weight 205 and i flip in mines first day out droped my stakeout pole it was sinking and leaned over to reach for it from my hand to elbow in the water still sitting in the seat and it flipped not blaming the kayak jusr trying to figure what i did wrong was the seat to high in medium postion or my leaning all weight to one side head over the water did it just trying to get some wisdom.
@jagermiker5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you did that while still in the seat, I'd say you pushed it too far. The Pursuit is super stable but like everything else, has its limitations. Add the fact that you had practically your entire body weight leaning over the side combined with the high center of gravity, that'll do it. Especially since you probably did it quickly since you were going after your sinking stakeout pole.

Where did you find a wireless bow mounted trolling motor at? I’ve looked everywhere haven’t found anything!
@jagermiker6 жыл бұрын
You mean a wireless stern mount? It's a Motorguide W45, a basic vow mount motor and all I did was flip it around backwards. The W45 has since been discontinued but you can do the same thing with their Xi3 and Xi5. There's also a company called Haswing that does make an actual wireless stern mount setup. Great little motors but parts and service can be an issue.

Great to see you found a boat that works for you, and you can still do what you love. I've become infatuated with this boat ever since I first laid eyes on it at my local dealer (for many of the same reasons you listed for choosing this boat) , and I'm finally able to afford it, with one being shipped to me now. I have some seadek ordered as well, the 6mm version, which looks to be what you have. I was worried the padding on the front crate space would interfere with the slide drawer, and couldn't find anything with some quick google searches. I'm glad I found this video because it seems to quell my concerns, as I see you have the seadek and the slide drawer. Seems to work great!
@jagermiker7 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony. Thanks for the comments and yes, you are correct about the 6mm SeaDek. The kit is phenomenal and does not interfere with the operation of the side drawer at all. I have no doubt that you'll love the SeaDek just as much as you'll love your new Pursuit!

the hull design is made for that
@jagermiker7 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in responding. As Rick pointed out, the hull is designed to slice through chop and does a very good job of it. The only thing to take into consideration is the spacing between the waves but that affects everyone.
