I got absolutely hooked on POTC when they came out. I remember couontless times rewatching all 3 on dvd when our cable would go out or when i was just bored. The DVD's provide some really great additional content and behind the scenes.

When they started filming pirates 2&3 the script hadnt even been written. They worked with an incomplete script for so much of it and to still come out with such high quality sequals is a monumentous feat.

I mean, 2&3 are decent, but black pearl is in a league of its own. It’s basically a modern day princess bride

Multiple jack scene is underrated. As jack meets his fsther later in the movie. The dad told him its not about just surviving , rather its about living with yourself !

The performances from Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, and Bill Nighy are especially worthy of praise. I think a lot of people underestimate how tough it is to give such wonky performances and how close they're actually getting to stepping over the line and completely destroying any sense of reality or seriousness WITHOUT actually crossing that line (in the initial trilogy, at the very least). If they had dialed it up just a little bit, I honestly believe the whole entire trilogy could just crumble before or eyes, but they maintained it at the perfect level. But it's not just them who have over-the-top roles, you obbiously have pretty much the whole crew if the Black Pearl, alongside people like Tia Dalma.

At world's end is one of my favourite movies of all time. I used to watch it at night under a pillow so my parents dont catch me. Hearing the score or seeing some of the scenes almost made me tear up from ffelings of nostalgia. Just not as bad as how to train your dragon. I actually cried once after listening to one of the pieces from that movie

The third movie had arguably the hardest scene in Cinema history when. The villain (englishman i cant remember the name of) died

I really like the 4th movie, it's a nice "extra" in the franchise. A good stand alone adventure, the dynamics between Barbossa & Jack are my absolute favorite in that installment. I used to hate "On Stranger Tides" when I was a kid after the giant battle in the third movie. But at least that movie followed the lore and the established canon from the original trilogy. The 5th one... oh boy that was a slap in the face to everything the past movies established. I'm not sure how they can even recover from the last movie, they completely destroyed Jack's character and i'm still not entirely sure why Will suddenly was "cursed" and disfigured.

I don't think it does get overlooked. Everyone I talk to about the trilogy is that they love it. If it was also underrated there wouldn't be a song by Michael Bolton hahaha countered your video in the first 5 seconds

Klaus Badelt composed the music for the original movie. Zimmer composed for the rest of the series. I just want to make sure Badelt gets credit for his amazing work.

Even with Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, the 4th and 5th movies were disappointing. In the latter, Sparrow is downgraded to a goofy sidekick which is not we want from Jack. Pirates will not syrvive not only without Johnny Depp, but without good writing as well.
