What a fantastic documentary. R. I. P. CARL BUTLER & PEARL

This was great. Loved their music. Marty Stuart would probably Showcase some of their stuff in his Congress of Country Music museum. Here's a LIVE video of Carl & Pearl Butler singing "Sundown in Nashville" at the Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree at the old Record Shop, being introduced by "Little" Jimmy Dickens and WSM650 Grant Turner doing the regular Jimmie Rodgers music commercial. Thank you for sharing this. I played guitar backing Carl and Pearl on a show in Knoxville in the early-mid 1980's. We had no rehearsals, had never met, but I knew their material. They treated me like family.

I consider myself pretty avid fan of old school country, but these folks, and their story, were off my radar. I will spread the gospel now. This is such a wholesome and at times heartbreaking story. It deserves to be told, and most importantly, they deserve to be listened to. I love it.

I'll bet when Pearl died, it just tore him to pieces. It would me, if I was in his shoes. They were very good together.

Hats off to you Bradley Reeves for this insightful, and well crafted documentary. Thoroughly enjoyable! You have a voice for radio AND a face for film! Look forward to more from you and East Tennessee team.

So glad to learn of another young musician carrying on the tradition of this wonderful music. I liked his observation that the music of eastern Tennessee is soulful, as it certainly is. I love the oldest recordings that captured that quality of the music at its very best. I look forward to an important contribution to bluegrass music from this young talented musician who at such a young age has already earned the recognition and respect of his elder mentors.

Love the Butlers, have since i was young when my family visited Opry yearly . Saw Butlers there, had their records, tapes for yrs. Pure country, long overdue for CMHF. Compliments to creator/ writer of this documentary. A very good video, love it. Much better than some i have seen of others or of the Opry itself. Thanks for posting this 😊

I remember these commercials. I was eight. I also remember one of the local Knoxville channels (6=ABC, 10=CBS, 26=NBC, not sure which) had a countdown every day leading up to the Worlds Fair. [And yes, 10 was CBS back then...it later moved to 8, and then NBC moved from 26 to 10. I don't recall WHY, but I remember that happening.] I remember going to the fair and seeing part of the Great Wall, really don't remember much of what else I saw.

I recall when I first heard "Don't Let Me Cross Over". Gram Parsons using the phrase "Cosmic American music" came to mind. I said to myself, "Well, I'm not sure what Parsons meant, but for me, this is it."

Wow, this is typical American story, that nowhere else is possible! Playing at this age with Bobby Osbourne, Ricky Skaggs, Sierra Hull Marty Stuart and the Del McCoury Band, releasing an album with Sierra Hull. I' m totally impressed. Gobo. Young man, your talent is phenomenal! You open the door to the next chapter of Bluegrass. You all young guys are the next generation. That's outstanding. In Germany where I'm from not similar like in USA . Good luck from Germany P.S.I forgot Bily Strings😅
