Two Type XXIII were raised by the Bundesmarine after the war and recommissioned as the Hai and Hecht. There is no shortage of research material on the type - see for example Rosslers book [which also covers all WW1 and WW2 types].

8 year old post. TypeXXIII's only three were captured even though a lot more were built and many under various stages of construction at wars end. Been trying to find blueprints on them, to no avail. They were reported to be miniature copies of the TypXXI, but had many features to be used in the later design TypeXXVIII Bauer boat. I hope they rise it. These like the Japan Type I boats were highly advanced. Darn shame the US sunk both of those boats after the war to avoid having to turn one over to the Soviets. These prints are not available either.

I seem to remember a small book telling the differences between the subs, how their u-numbers were confusing, a picture of the H2O2 Walther boat and, as well as mention of the type XXI diagrams (NOT blueprints) of another type with many torpedo tubes angled backwards. This would allow it to fire a vast salvo of torpedoes while heading away from target, alter course about 45 degrees and discharge the similar amount and continue heading away. In fact there were two books, each about the size of a mobile phone, and they also contained info about end of each individual boat.

MrCloudseeker A Nazi is someone who truly believes in National Socialism and racism. Most Germans did not have anything to do with this, just like American soldiers throughout the years... Most American soldiers would not be able to give a good description of what their political system is like, and nor is it required of them. And what a ridiculous statement about the "Nazi uniform"... The uniforms used in the Wehrmacht were more German, than Nazi. I would agree if you talked about the Allgemeine SS uniforms, which were truly exclusive to the TRUE Nazis. It's just like calling American troops for Republican or Reppy soldiers, etc...

MrCloudseeker You are reinforcing a stereotype and generalizations, the two things this world doesn't need. Go away yourself...

why this obsession with the term"Nazi"? Those were GERMAN sailors! Do you still subscribe to the theory that every German was Nazi? Did you know that a highly decorated U-boat commander was Jewish? Do you think he was a Nazi? Field Marshall Milch was Jewish. Several German Generals were Jewish. Do you think they were Nazis?
@isaiahhansen95669 жыл бұрын
Do you know what the term "Nazi" is an abbreviation for? It is derived from the National Socialist Workers Party, also known in Germany as the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. If a soldier was fighting for Germany in WWII and his views were aligned with those of the socialist party, he would be called a Nazi as it is an all encompassing term for anyone who supported the German government and their actions during WWII. To answer your question regarding the supposed jewish U boat captain and really any german-jewish person fighting in WWII; yes, as stated previously if a person sympathized with the right wing German government they would be considered a Nazi.
@koelschwolf64799 жыл бұрын
Isaiah Hansen Yes I know that the term NAZI comes from an abbreviation of the NSDAP. But by now the American media has made it into a slur. The same as now every man, woman and child from the Mid East is an "Ayrab".

If you are coming on this video and you still think this is a "Nazi ship", why are you looking up these videos if you don't understand common sense and basic History? Just because your History Channel and school teacher refers to every German thing at the time as a "Nazi object" (e.g, Nazi pens, Nazi glass of water, Nazi toothbrush, Nazi food store etc) doesn't mean that tadaa, this is non-bias History. Just because it is politically correct, doesn't mean IT IS correct.

So makes todays military any different? Independant or not, for or against a conflict, believe in your leaders or not a soldier has to go in a do what hes told with no opinion or disillusion of what he is there. They are hired by a government to contract and fight, nothing has changed from NAZI Germany to 2013 United States, the only difference is today there are different terms for the conflicts but in the end its still simply people killing people, period.
