Too much granules will cause a chlorine lock. Its recommended to use liquid chlorine

For all those struggling with PSI starting high. Keep cleaning your DE filter (open it and wash out the DE) then reply the recommended portion. Repeat the cleaning process everyday until that PSI drops to where it used to be when it was fine. Also very important to keep your water well balanced with all the chemicals while cleaning the DE. I had to clean my DE filter 9 times to finally see it drop from 22 to 16PSI. I still clean it every 2 weeks.

The large washer is probably a weight that hold down a check valve (gravity) when the pump is off= in the fall you probably thing about replacing the check valve- it is in the in take to the filter after the pump-- if your unit has a union between the pump and the filter is will to the right of this union The check valve keeps the DE from settling backwards when the pump is off.

why does the de powder go into my pool when I first put it on? Why does this happen & how can I solve it? Also, I noticed a small clear hose on your filter system. What was this? Thank you for a great video.

You forgot to put the pump back on to see the psi after cleaning.

Thank you so much all the way from Virginia Beach!! I'm having SUCH a hard time sweeping my pool because for the life of me, every time I start sweeping it looses pressure and before I know it, the sweeper head is floating, the plug with the elbow part is floating in the filter and I'm making it all cloudy again. I can't figure out how to fix this! So frustrating! I'm going to try your way, I just can't afford to replace bits and pieces on this. The pump itself is only 3 years old, I replaced the whole thing 3 years ago. Sorry, venting a little bit, man. Thank you for the video! Gave me some hope.

Use a long rod or tool to use for leverage. It makes it much easier. Good luck

Since it only took two drops for the alkalinity test what does that mean for your pool? Does it mean it’s low or high on alkalinity? And with that ‘20’ we do what with it?

im a pool service tech. and those test kits are complete dog shit. if your going to go down the test kit route. 100% go with the taylor test kit. as far as the alk goes. he said the alk was bewteen 20-30 which is very low. the lower the alk the more acidic the water is. he also was wrong wanting the alk around 100-120. you usaully want to alk around 80-150ppm. if its get lower then 80 you will want to raise that up. since the alk was around 20-30ppm your going to want to add bicarb. on a normal size pool you can add about 7 pounds of bi-carb and it will bring it up to where you want it. since the alk is that low you would add 10 pounds of bi-carb and depending on the size of the pool it would bring it up to about 90-100 ppm. keep in mind bi-carb raises the PH so you would have to adjust that as well. but PH and alk work hand in hand with each other.

I have a question after adding the de the filter goes to 20 psi after just 30 minutes what steps should i take to see what the problem is?
