I orded 2 knives from You a month ago but still no shipping info. Two emails to your company if you have shipped but no response. 254 USD. Now a dispute started at Paypal but still no response. This is really bad! One month and no shipping? Weeks without answering paying customers about getting what they have payed you their money for to get?

Mr Hoffner seems like a nice enough guy and is certainly an experienced instructor. The video starts off as an infomercial for his knife and then proceeds to teach a very cop centric type course. Reminds me of the caliber press videos. It presumes your carrying a gun as well relegating the knife to a back up role. Very liability conscious. Overall a good basic course for those that also carry a gun. I'm stealing the opening quote "if your have your pants on you have your knife on" by the way. Full credit to mister Hoffman of course.

Brian - I purchased one of your folders from you at Blade Show West several years ago. It is a great design and I have shared it with everyone in my martial arts network. Question: are you going to ever release a version with improved blade steel?

Yes, The Snap Folder is now Japanese VG10 hardened to HRC 60. Good Stuff. Thanks for being ah Hoffner Knife Sheepdog!

No and one more time NO. It is not logic that if you have a pistol, that the attacker with knife will be killed - it was proofed many times, that to draw a pistol in slower then to use a knife, so the owner of a pistol can be potentially killed. To protect from a knife attack it is always to have a larger and longer device in your hand to damage the head or wrist of the attacker. Furthermore, really experienced fighter will never show to somebody that you actually have knife at all. As addition your folding knife should have a tip-up carry possibility. There is exist a lot of technical solutions how to deploy exactly your knife model much quicker and with more safety. However, your knifes are very interesting and well produced.

Brian, i am a 74 yr old retired LEO. In the 1980's I purchased a SOG Sidewinder II folder for duty carry. Very similar to your knife. It is 8 oz, 3.75 inch spear point blade, kratan rubberized handle, and steel bolsters. I carried it for over 30 years, and is still my EDC, being it is still like new due to its robust design. Your instruction is almost identical to my method of use. It has no retention clip and I carry it deep pocket. Thanks for your service. Stay safe. Doug.
@BrianHoffner2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your input Doug. Its a great system that will work with any pocket knife that will snap as you know. I just decided to design the perfect knife for my system that i have always taught, stay safe as well my friend.
@dougboal76202 ай бұрын
@@BrianHoffner Brian, i forgot to add that being i don't carry knives with pocket clips, even though the clip is a good idea, in my opinion doesn't securely prevent an aggressor seeing it from trying to wrestled the knife away. To compensate for removing the knife quickly while on foot or in my vehicle if necessary, due to a possible confrontation that could be brewing, i hold the knife ( closed bladed) in my strong hand as a striking implement. If i can't escape the situation, and have to resort to possible lethal means, i bring the blade into play. If i decide to go EDC i carry the revolver cross draw left side. Being many firefights occur in vehicles, this will allow me to draw my weapon, with no seat belt interference. Great to chat with you Brian, and as the favorite line on Hill Street Blues was said at roll call: "Be careful out there!"

I don't understand why you would engineer something like this and then make it out of 440 stainless instead of O1 or D2 or some other kind of tool steel designed to do the kind of stuff you say you designed the knife for. It just makes it so hard to take seriously.

can you tighten the tension on either side?
@BrianHoffner5 ай бұрын
The left side of the tension screw is the anchor side. It is set so it does not spin when you are tightening. The adjust side is the right side of the knife. So if you have your belt clip on that side, you must remove it to adjust attention. We provide a lifetime warranty, so if you have any issues losing the screws, whatever let us know so we can warranty it for you. Thanks.

Generally like the design, but this would be a pretty bad edc. The deployment disk covers a large portion of the cutting path making that section of blade mostly ineffective for cutting, and the stock thickness is too thick to be good at edc cutting tasks.
@BrianHoffner5 ай бұрын
It is definitely for those who like thick, beefy, tough, and heavy. With that said we do have standard thumb studs that we can put on in lieu of the big thumb ramp. Thanks!

@Velshard3 жыл бұрын
I've went back and forth on buying one of these knives for a while now, the main issue that kills it for me is the fact that its blade is made from a low end steel like 440C. If it was made from a midgrade steel, or even a lower high grade steel, I'd have no qualms about the purchase. If he ever makes one in a steel like CPM-154, it would be hard to say "No" to, even with a potential $500 sticker shock
@BrianHoffner Жыл бұрын
Please do not fear 440 Chromium. It is the first and still the best super steel. The high Chromium content keeps it from rusting and pitting in the field. Higher end steels do not mean that they are better for this function. They typically have a higher carbon level which can give the ability to anneal it two points higher 58-60 but lose the true stainless which requires 15% chromium. Getting steel this thick 3/8" is difficult to begin with, annealing it properly at this thickness is also difficult. With 440C Super Steel we can get it done and provide a blade that is strong enough for us to warranty for life...as a pry tool. Thanks!
@joeb85693 ай бұрын
I've owned knifes with CPM 154 and they performed horribly. 440C properly made is actually superior. 440C is proven to be an excellent steel. People are almost always Sadly mis informed!
