lol. “Reasonable expectations” 0 playoff wins in 8 years. How could the fans expect at least one playoff win every 8 seasons These clowns act like everyone is demanding a Super Bowl every year. It’s THREE playoff wins in 14 seasons. Don’t even ask who the QBs were that we beat in those three wins
@seankins71735 күн бұрын
Very True Fact In the 8 years since Tomlin’s last playoff win, only 28 coaches have managed a playoff win. Every single one of those coaches had either Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady at QB. It’s literally impossible for a coach in this era to win without one of those two QBs People don’t understand this very true fact
@jamesmott518113 күн бұрын
You can be happy with being out coached, in every playoff game since 2010. I'm not. Where is his coaching tree bud? ZERO head coaches or cordinaters in the NFL. Why is that? Why is that? you know the answer.

In your hatred of Tomlin you’re missing the point of this video and discussion. I brought this up because fans mocked “The standard is the standard” and if you look back at Cowher’s era as well…it’s basically been the same team. I’m not defending Tomlin just pointing out this team really hasn’t been all that different the past 33 years (other than Cowher with 4 more playoff wins) …
@theburghcave13 күн бұрын

@@theburghcave It was time for Bill to leave also, just as it was Chuck's. When Tomlin took over for Cowher and when Cowher took over for Noll it was like a fresh breath of air. I think Tomlins message is stale. However I do think he can still succeed, if he gets very good coordinators, like he had with LeBeau and Arians. I feel (with no proof) that he likes yes men. I mean we had Brian Flores on the staff a few years ago, and we keep Austin. It doesn't make sense. I think Mike Tomlin is a great motivator of men but his situational awareness is lacking, he needs good coordinators to offset his flaws. No coach is perfect, Mike is better than most. Sometimes I feel his pride holds him back.
@theburghcave13 күн бұрын
@@jamesmott5181 well said man, and I totally agree if Tomlin stays (looks like it) need really strong coordinators. If he stays I’m replacing the DC and OL Coach immediately!! Arthur Smith stays .. That solidifies my point further 😁 he’s a career 56% comp guy 115 TD’s and 88 INT’s … he’s an average QB. Nothing against him (or the other guys) just a reflection of that era of football when franchise QB’s were not a thing and you could win championships with average QB’s …
@rickglassie800713 күн бұрын
Seriously dude, Coach Tomlin is another Marty Schottenheimer he will never ever win the big one, I don't care about winning during a regular season, this man cannot coach a playoff contention team, history shows it. He had a lot of pro bowlers, offense and defense in his career and has nothing to show for it.
@theburghcave13 күн бұрын
My man, you’re missing the point. This was NOT to defend Tomlin rather than to point out the Steelers have had the same team for roughly 30-33 years! Yea Cowher won 4 more playoff games but the team dynamics are the same!!! Tomlin and Cowher both had a lot of pro bowlers and the same to show for it. 1-1 in Super Bowls. I agree, sometimes you have to fail to succeed. With out that 2003 6-10 season (which I did not have to endure because I was over in Iraq) we probably would not have won two more Super Bowls. Now a losing season do not guarantee you get a franchise QB (or any top tier player), but it most certainly increases you odds.

There’s no “call” to make, and there’s no “QB controversy.” Russ has always been QB1. JF was always QB2. This isn’t a “look-see.” And JF didn’t say “maybe I didn’t play well enough,” he said “I wasn’t good enough!” There was no “maybe” about it. Furthermore, JF was trying to steal Russ’s QB1 position, not win a QB competition. There was no competition. JF only started games because Russ was injured. That was it. Russ would have the Steelers at 8-0 right now.
@theburghcave2 ай бұрын
We are all on the same page, Russ was QB1 since he came here. I truly believe Coach T was pleasantly surprised with how JF played - which allowed Russ to get fully healthy. There’s NO DOUBT the offense flows better with Russ and he’s the guy moving forward.

Not a RW or JF story for me. The overall mission is to improve the offense which has been underpowered for a few seasons thus irrelevant in Dec./Jan. especially in the AFC (Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Jackson……now Rodgers). We’ve seen this with the previous QB’s, impressive defensive wins scratched out in regular season obtaining another +500 season but no realistic post season. RW should get a start when healthy because that card must be turned over to see if it pays off. JF has shown to be what he was brought here to be, an adequate QB2 to come in and drive a minimalist offense with a simplified playbook allowing for defensive scratched out wins. What we’re getting now would be worst case performance by RW (he’s actually washed) as opposed to the celebratory vibe around JF’s performance understandably because of the wins. But again, we’ve lived this for the last 3 seasons and its fun but meaningless in Dec./Jan. Fans and largely media are personalizing the narrative (Team JF vs Team RW) I’m team Steelers. Either or both must show they can deliver AFC post season QB1 offence, not game management for the defense. Secondly, a healthy RW should get a fair chance to start if for no other reason than that was very likely the understanding when agreeing to come here for basically couch change, not to hang out on the bench waiting for Jf to get knocked out of the game and with the Rooney family and Tomlin, word is Rep! Not about hating on either guy but staying on mission for the Steelers. I root for JF but my larger rooting interest if for the Steelers to be relevant in Dec./Jan. Even if we’re right about JF and he has true QB1 aptitude, that won’t pay off for a season or two at best. We'll know if Russ is the answer in 4 games.

It boils down to the QB. The Ravens can't win the big ones because, eventually, the QB has to make big plays with his arm. 8-9 in the playoffs with must wins coming early and 3 playoff wins in 10 yrs. 7 yrs in a row without a playoff win is a new, ugly record since the SB era started in 1967. Reg season wins are for the best post-season position possible....nothing else. That is on track with a no tank mentality, as well, and I believe Coach T would agree. Noll and Cowher would have trouble coaching today, so there must be credit given to Coach Tomlin's ability to get the most out of players. All teams have issues every year. KC was first in WRs drops last year. Folks said the same about getting a replacement for Noll and Cowher, yet they found Tomlin. Yes, he would be hired somewhere else, but there is always will be another. Sometimes a team needs fresh eyes. Lastly, not getting a ring during the killer B era hurt his reputation. That written, another ring will change some fans'current perceptions for sure.
@theburghcave8 ай бұрын
Well said and a lot of great points…the killer b era came at the wrong time as the defense was getting rebuilt .. plus they very rarely were healthy together in the playoffs. Again, the 2017 season was the true opportunity for a ring. Appreciate you hanging with us and tuning in 🍻
