Is there a website for Dan Simmons? Where is he now in 2022? I"m going to re-read his books. He is in my top three authors along with Joyce Carol Oates and H.P. Lovecraft.

I can not believe this little "old" video has a mere 33 views! (34 now). Back in the mid '90's when I stumbled upon The Hyperion Cantos I tried to find something-anything!- on Dan Simmons. All I could find was that cover sleeve photo of him, in all black staring right back thru the camera. I just wanted to go find the man, and shake him! and say: "What in the Hell is the matter with you, you beautiful monster!"

I really liked the book and would recommend it highly. That being said.... yetis would have been a better antagonist; I felt duped. The sky burial was an amazing bit of writing though.

He is... Hyperion, which I just finished, is one of the greatest novels ever written. IMO, the only living author on Simmons level is Cormac McCarthy.
@burnsloads4 жыл бұрын
The Cantos are amazing. Hyperion is something that can't be replicated for a few generations. Simmons scathing critique of yahweh during the Saul story. The way he wrote Martin Silenus without writing for the first half of his song. The poetry of the Consuls story. The near perfect noir of Brawn Lamia. The unattainable levels of inspired writing considering Father Hoyt, Father Paul Doreé, and the Bikura. The Epic of Maui Covenant.... The entire Aenean Saga. Dan is a national treasure. In future datarchealogical excursions, Dan wil be Herodotus and Thucidides combined.

I love Dan Simmons, but there are some that I just can't get into. I mean, Hyperion and Illium, for instance, are light years beyond Fires Of Eden or Flashback. Perhaps, the Hyperion/Illium series spoiled me. Summer of Night scared me too death. The Terror was a brutal read (I read it going through methadone withdrawals)

As a Crossfire Series fan, I don't like the idea of seeing Gideon and Eva on screen. I saw them, I felt them, I heard them -- bcoz Sylvia Day is such a wonderful author, she already put the 'screen' on the pages. As a non-english speaking native, I'm always surprise whenever I re-read the first three books the scenes in my mind are so crystal clear that made me realized that Gideon is Gideon and Eva is Eva from the very first book! Gideon's dark and dangerous feel (from the book) is unique and there's no actor that'll match him. Same with Eva, Cary, Ireland and every characters on the book. Everyone is real, you can't imagine any actor that'll do justice to their characters. Or maybe, I just love them all to much to protect them from being 'miscasted' and that they are their 'own' person, noone can clone them. I know it's selfish but that how I feel.

Gosh I adore Laurell Hamilton she's a genius!, and I agree, men so do get off easy where pregnancy is concerned!! I have three children, not triplets, and each pregnancy, although a miracle and I loved feeling my babies move around inside my tummy, was very different and the births were hard bc Epidurals wouldn't take on me so I had to do it all natural and you better believe I appreciated each one of my sweet little babies after all of those hours of hardcore labor!! I think it is great Laurell wrote about pregnancy and the woes and such that go along with it! Romance novels always sort of skip past all that and everyone lives in bliss which is so not the way it goes. LKH is amazing bc she actually takes fictional stories and makes you believe them! She is pure genius! Love love love her!! My fav author of all time!

"The Headmaster's Wife" is a fantastic novel. Lyrical and beautifully written, slyly compulsive, and, as the book unfolds, poignant and profound. If you're coming across this video, and you haven't read the work yet, do yourself a favor and track it down as soon as possible. It's a wonderful and worthwhile read. Read this book in one day, and then set out to read other titles by Thomas Christopher Greene. He is one incredibly talented author.

I actually got into The Dresden Files books because of the series. I agree with Jim, the series isn't THAT bad. I actually really liked the actors. Specially the guy who plays Dresden and the woman who pays Murphy. Their lines though, were atrocious and the writing was just all over the place. I had a good time watching regardless, and it did pointed me to the books, which are just AMAZING.
