Me and Stephen had a great time. I will ALWAYS regret not going to the resort show he invited me to and going to lay down the track we worked out on the beach. He had a great voice and was a really nice soul.

Stephen West showed my country boy tail some reggae chords on some salt sea rusted strings on his old guitar while busking and hustling some of his CDs on the beach. He then began to play and God gave me some words to sing and we created a song together that day beneath the sun on the white sand beach of Negril He wanted me to leave my family and go record it the same day. I will forever regret telling him no and that the next time I return I would go white him to record The saddest lesson I learned was that you are never promised a next time only what time you have RIGHT NOW!!! God Bless his family and Rest In Peace Stephen West James If ever i do record this song and if ever I’d makes a dollar Stephen’s family or a fund will receive 50% of ever penny

I met Stephen West while vacationing with my family in Negril. He came walking down the beach with a rusted string guitar playing Reggae Music, hustling his CD’s and promoting his live show at one of the local hotels. We hung out for a bit and he let me share some of my original songs from Memphis Tennessee and showed me how to do some reggae chords. In the process he Batam strumming and I began free styling some lyrics and right there we had a new song. He invited me to go and record it that week but fearing my family may not like my departure to goto Jamaican music studio for a day I suggested we plan to do it upon my return to the island at a later time. He also invited me to his live show that evening but regretfully I again had to decline the invitation due to previous plans with the group. I went home and completed the verses we started that beautiful day in the sun and a few years later when my family and I returned to Negril I sought out Stephen only to find he had passed away. I was heart broken over it but vow that if ever I am fortunate enough to have the song recorded and covered, I will give Stephen his writers credit and will seek out his family to provide them with the rights should by the grace of God it ever become profitable. I will be returning to Jamaica in October. Should any of Stephen’s band mates, management team, friends or family see this I would (if I can afford it) very much like to record the song if at all possible. I can not remember the recording studio in Negril he recommended but I believe he said they were his friends and he used them for his own CD projects. Thank you

So at the rehearsal studio a punk band singer asked for a country song they could do; thus by his request was “Judgin’ My Work” written. Never saw the guy after but the song is good.
