My Dad use to own the 4 door version of this car. But a little newer, and not so great shape as this one is. He passed away and my Mother owned it. The. It was sold in the estate process. The people who bought it then sold to to someone in Russia who payed $29,000 shipping costs. So hopefully it will be restored and loved by others.

would be cool to have guns instead of tools in the tool tray.

Very rare to have all the tools - increases the value believe it or not!

Looks beautiful presume it runs the same way. The drophead appears to have different door handles to the saloon.

It's just a matter of time before electric retrofits become mainstream, and these most excellent cars will be prime candidates for conversion. The Rolls power train is reliable, but as the mechanicals age people will ditch gasoline engine and convert to electric as qualified mechanics become hard to source. There are many examples of such wizardry on YT. Call me a snob, but I would rather have a Rolls retrofit electric than a new Tesla. Can you imagine driving a Citroen SM with a modern electric power train? Oh the power!

It looks like the distributor is not quite symmetrically installed ?

The gearbox you have used is from a prewar ohv jaguar saloon and so has a rubber rear mounting. The SS1 gearbox had no rear mounting, the gearbox being simply cantilevered off the engine. So your fabricated rear mounting bracket is superfluous. The gearlever extension is not correct for the SS1.
@angusmurray37673 жыл бұрын
The Andre Hartford shock absorbers on the SS1 should be at right angles to the chassis, not parallel to it. For the type of brackets fitted to this car no additional bracketry is needed. They have a drop link that engages with the eye in the front axle midway between the road spring and the brake backplate. It seems you have copied someones modification!

Excellent work but the rear suspension needs work to it. Completely dropped.

Thats normal if the car sits for a longer period of time. Should come up after running for a few minutes.

So much money spent and the tool tray lid green lining doesn't match the tool tray! Why?
@Allmentux4 жыл бұрын
Nice job! Only the pinstripe appears to be too thick.
@RRudolf883 жыл бұрын
I agree. Such a nice looking car with such a beautiful and well preserved interior. You tend to spoil the look a bit with such an ostentatious pinstripe. If you want a bolder look, you would need to draw two fine lines - which also have to appear on the hubcaps.

The rear suspension could do with some money spent on it. It must ride and drive something awful. Nice body and interior.
