Modern cars don`t have indicators

Signals are not used effectively nowadays imo, people have got lazy and/or selfish. Electric vehicle drivers seem to be the worst. Just how much power do they think they're saving? 😂 As long as the good driver observes HWC rule 104, we'll be ok.

Where we are approaching a bend in the road and its not moving as we get closer what you should be saying is that we are slowing enough so that we can stop in that distance still to be seen. Then when we see the limit point or vanishing point move from its static position and going further into the bend we continue to judge our distance and relative speed as being safe to continue so long as we believe that we can stop in that distance. If so we continue at that speed. Because of the slowing effects created by being on a bend we do generally slow a little so in order not to be slowing on a bend and to maintain vehicle balance front to rear we use a slight acceleration to continue at that entry speed throughout the bend. This is a steady and open throttle where there is no acceleration but our speed remains at a constant. If the bend or limit point ever gets closer then we are going too fast and then we should or must slow even more but if it starts to get away from us then we decide if and only if we want to speed up to follow it. After the apex of the bend and we see the road opening up do not be too early in accelerating out of it but allow the machine to straighten up and then one can use acceleration sense on the then opening road in front of one., Opening up the throttle too early can destabilise the vehicle and one can lose the rear and front end.

Nice write up. Its nice to see someone with a good understanding
@rcraven10133 ай бұрын
The limit point is the distance that we can stop in before and during a bend. Its mentioned that its where the nearside verge/kerb meets the offside one . However that is true mainly on right hand bends. The verge/kerb being on our side of the road. On a left hand bend what you don't realise is that we se al of the road surface and mire. We should not count that opposite side of the road that is used by traffic coming the other way. On a sharp bend we see little of it . just the width of the road but on a long bend we can see much more of that tarmac, many meters long but we cannot use that side of the road due to obvious danger of hitting something coming the other way. So on left hand bends we can only drive up to the centre line and not over it.

Yes indeed ; I saw two TSRM ( traffic signs and road marking ) offences where both the car and the motorcycle failed to obey the mandatory KEEP LEFT signs on the central islands ; the car may also have been speeding as well as driving without due care and attention , but the motorcyclist most certainly was speeding , given the indicated speed of the overtaken vehicle on the dash cam . Both the driver and rider put themselves in danger as they passed close to junctions on the right ; and even though emerging traffic still has a duty to check both ways , they would have been primarily at fault in any collision . it should always be remembered that , notwithstanding the islands and KEEP LEFT signage , that emergency vehicles can still pass to the right of these if the road is blocked on the left , although normally they would be on blue lights and sirens as well as proceeding with extreme caution . Always expect the unexpected . Fortunately the car in the first road on the right did appear to look both ways before emerging .

Nice drive . I first did commentary driving when I did my advanced courses with the police several decades ago ( late 1970s ) . Below is one I did for one of my car clubs a few years ago to illustrate what it's about . I'll see if I still have any emergency response runs as well . kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3ioaqFrfK6VapYsi=D2iVMoWcNde5NeZN Here's one of my colleagues on a training run ; I'm in the passenger seat filming this kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJ_HhZJnlNGcl6csi=O0OpaR8RBB2pLm6_ Alas no commentary on that one , but it does show response driving from an emergency drivers' point of view . I will see if I can find one with commentary .

Just come upon your channel and this is my first comment. One thing you seem to be doing is staying in low gears when it looks like you could be changing to a higher one. It looked like you stayed in 3rd when it was a 40 mph zone, I have noticed this from other driving instructors videos. I would like to know your thoughts on fuel economy. My car gives an indication of when to change gear, I appreciate this is only an indication but I mostly change anyway. I could be in 4th in a 30mph zone and still being within the speed limit.
@derekheeps12446 ай бұрын
This is often done when traffic and other circumstances merit the flexibility of a lower gear in allowing the speed to be varied just by use of the accelerator ; this may use more fuel than driving in a higher gear , but can be appropriate to the circumstances .

Turn the steering wheel fully to the right & drive until I see the corner of the parking lot in the side view mirror --> I want to ask✏ 1) When I see the corner of the parking lot in my side view mirror, and then I need to straight the steering wheel before next step (reverse), right??! 2) My foot should fully step on the brake or lightly step on it when straightening the steering wheel?
@lifeskillsds11 ай бұрын
1. yes straighten or go to full lock in the opposite direction, and then remove steering as required to get you into your bay. For no.2 Be gentle with the brake, you should never need to "step" on the brake pedal unless carrying out an emergency stop.

There can be cars pulling out from the properties on the left hand side. Or that it can come cyclists from the small road (the road that blocks the vision for the driver) on the left side that doesn't check before going into the road (the road on 0:10).
