Are these exercises good for an MMA fighter to do?
@kinetichealthonline4 күн бұрын
Hello @ceeeceee8753, thank you for watching and for your question! While I can’t provide specific advice without a full assessment, I can say that neck strengthening exercises can be highly beneficial for individuals in contact sports like MMA, as they can help improve stability and reduce the risk of certain injuries. However, it’s essential to ensure the exercises are performed correctly and tailored to your specific needs and training regimen. Consulting with a sports therapist or qualified professional familiar with MMA training would be a great way to ensure these exercises align with your goals. I had a plantar plate repair, so the tendon on the bottom of my second toe was shortened and the top tendon was “released.” I did not understand at the time that this meant it was cut. So now I am developing hammer toe. Since I can no longer lift that toe, will these exercises still work?
@kinetichealthonline9 күн бұрын
Hello @christimartin8512, Thank you for watching the video and sharing your story. Post-surgical changes, such as those following a plantar plate repair and tendon adjustments, can sometimes contribute to changes in toe function or alignment, like what you're describing. However, it's important to note that I cannot confirm whether your condition is directly related to the procedure without a full clinical evaluation. Exercises designed to support foot and toe biomechanics might still be helpful in maintaining mobility and strength, but their effectiveness would depend on your specific situation. To ensure the best approach, I encourage you to consult with a healthcare professional familiar with post-surgical rehabilitation for tailored guidance. I appreciate you taking the time to reach out and wish you the best in managing this condition! Dr. Brian Abelson DC

Hello @andreyregeza379, Thank you for your comment and for watching the video! You're absolutely right that the elevated-legs version is a classic approach to the Russian Twist and provides a great challenge for the core and obliques. However, the variations I showcased in the video cater to different fitness levels and goals, offering options for those who may prefer a more accessible starting point or want to add variety to their workout routine. It's all about finding what works best for individual needs while maintaining proper form to protect the spine. I appreciate your input and passion for the exercise-thanks again for sharing your perspective! Best regards, Dr. Brian Abelson, DC

Hello @ogrescar2125, Thank you for watching the video and for sharing your experience! I’m glad to hear that what you’ve been able to do so far seems to be helping. If you're experiencing difficulty straightening your hand, it might be helpful to consult a healthcare professional who can assess your situation and provide personalized guidance. They’ll be able to determine if both the ulnar and median nerves are involved or if other factors are contributing. Wishing you the best in your recovery journey! Best regards, Dr. Brian Abelson, DC

My husband has foot drop and is getting hammer toes. He wears an AFO. Can he benefit from the exercises?
@kinetichealthonline11 күн бұрын
Hello, Thank you for watching the video and for your questions! While I cannot provide specific advice without a thorough physical examination and medical history, I’ll do my best to provide some general guidance that may help. The exercises demonstrated in the video can potentially support improved mobility and function for conditions like hammer toes. However, in cases where foot drop and hammer toes are due to neuropathy, it’s essential to consider the underlying cause and severity of the condition. Wearing an AFO (ankle-foot orthosis) is a great step for managing foot drop, and some gentle exercises may complement its benefits by maintaining or improving muscle strength and flexibility. That said, I highly recommend consulting with a healthcare professional who can tailor a program to meet your husband’s specific needs and monitor his progress to ensure safety and effectiveness. Thank you again for reaching out, and I hope this provides some clarity! Best regards, Dr. Brian Abelson, DC

My abdominal muscles are so tight. Specifically . the rectus abdominus below the right rib cage. It literally stops me from having a normal life.
@kinetichealthonline14 күн бұрын
Hello, and thank you for watching! I’m sorry to hear about the challenges you’re facing. While I can’t provide specific advice without a full examination and history, I can share some general insights. The rectus abdominis is one of the primary muscles of the abdominal wall and plays a key role in core stability, posture, and movement. Tightness in this area can sometimes be related to overuse, poor posture, or compensatory patterns due to other muscle imbalances. A combination of gentle stretching, diaphragmatic breathing, and targeted myofascial release techniques may help reduce tension in the abdominal area. However, I recommend consulting with a qualified healthcare professional to assess your situation fully and develop a tailored plan. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask! Best regards, Dr. Brian Abelson, DC

I have a rhythmic crampus in my muscle under the pinky (abductor digiti minimi). Is this caused by the ulnar nerve?
@kinetichealthonline15 күн бұрын
Hello @majestic91, Thank you for watching and for your question. The abductor digiti minimi is innervated by the ulnar nerve, which can be vulnerable to compression or irritation, particularly at the cubital tunnel (elbow) or Guyon’s canal (wrist). Such issues may lead to cramping, weakness, or altered sensations in the muscle. While this general information may provide some insight, persistent symptoms warrant a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional to identify the exact cause. Dr. Brian Abelson, DC

I see a NYC TMD specialist who told me to not open my mouth too wide, such as yawning. So I’m hesitant to do some of these exercises, but massaging the muscles has helped temporarily. I’m wondering if there’s a TMD chat line where people could exchange info, maybe find local specialists? They’re so difficult to find. Thank you for your videos… I will use some of these techniques.
@kinetichealthonline17 күн бұрын
Hello @Marilyn-h4m6f, Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s understandable to feel hesitant, especially when working with a specialist who has provided specific recommendations. Listening to your body and following professional advice is always the best approach. While I can’t recommend specific chat lines or forums, I suggest looking for professional organizations like the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP) or the American Dental Association (ADA), which often provide directories of specialists. Connecting with these resources may help you locate qualified practitioners in your area. In the meantime, gentle self-massage and conservative techniques, like those shown in our videos, can sometimes provide temporary relief-always within your comfort range. I’m glad you’ve found some benefit so far. @kinetichealthonline24 күн бұрын
Hello Helen, Thank you for watching and for your question. Unfortunately, I cannot provide advice or comment on specific cases without conducting a thorough physical examination and taking a complete history. However, I can provide some general insights. Radial nerve glide exercises are typically used to address issues related to the radial nerve, such as nerve entrapments or tension, and are not directly related to hip replacement surgery. Before beginning any new exercises or therapies after surgery, it’s essential to consult with your surgeon or physiotherapist, as they will provide guidance tailored to your recovery plan. Can ligaments grow back after Full ACL tear without surgery?
@kinetichealthonline25 күн бұрын
Hello @kvtroots5369, thank you for watching and for your question! Generally, ACL injuries are categorized into three grades. Grade 1 and Grade 2 tears often respond well to rehabilitation focused on strengthening surrounding muscles and improving stability. Grade 3 tears, which involve a complete rupture, typically require surgery for optimal recovery, although every case varies depending on individual circumstances and functional goals. I encourage consulting with a healthcare professional for a comprehensive evaluation and personalized advice. Dr. Brian Abelson DC

Hello @lauraclarke6077, thank you for your question and for watching the video! Unfortunately, I can’t provide advice or comment on specific cases without conducting a physical examination and taking a complete history. That said, PIN syndrome (Posterior Interosseous Nerve Syndrome) shares some similarities with radial nerve entrapment, including its causes, such as compression at the supinator muscle or repetitive forearm use. Manual therapy, particularly the MSR Protocol, is highly effective at addressing radial nerve issues by reducing muscle tension, improving mobility, and facilitating nerve function. Please feel free to reach out to a qualified professional for a personalized assessment. Thanks again for engaging with the video!" Dr. Brian Abelson DC

@kinetichealthonline28 күн бұрын
Hello @cheriyost2780, Thank you for your question! While I can’t provide specific medical advice without a full evaluation, I can share some general insights. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), points like LI 12 (Elbow Crevice), LI 4 (Hegu), and PC 6 (Neiguan) are often used to address issues related to the arm, wrist, and hand. These points may help reduce tension, improve circulation, and support nerve function, which could potentially provide relief for conditions like Carpal Tunnel and Cubital Tunnel Syndromes. That said, acupressure is best used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. I recommend consulting a qualified healthcare provider for a personalized approach. Thanks again for watching!
