Would you consider doing budgets to show us how much it costs to travel to these places?
@journeywithbantu5 күн бұрын
Hi again ! Most of my trips over the past two years have been through a travel company , hence they would have advertised a package and same would have been paid for , there also would have been add ons that would have been done. This trip had multiple countries hence the cost I paid (4000+ usd) covered 4 countries not just South Korea. The thing with traveling to these places from Jamaica at-least is one of your biggest factors will be the flight cost , given that the cost of living in these countries are more affordable than Ja

How long is the flight to South Korea? Is it a straight flight?
@journeywithbantu5 күн бұрын
Hi good day , I actually recorded that info but decided to leave it out for some reason , I took a flight from Ja to NY which was about 4hrs then a flight from NY to Hong Kong which was 15hrs and then a brief flight from Hong Kong To Seoul, South Korea , and ofcourse there were lay over times , overall 24+ hrs of traveling

Hey, have you repeated it since ? We use two elevated reading hours apart before diagnosing. Get a repeat , if it is still high go to your nearest doctor to discuss management , depending on the value you may be able to start lifestyle changes without medication at this moment , if it’s too high you might have to initiate both.

Good morning please can I use USMLE step scores to apply to hospitals in Jamaica?
@journeywithbantu Жыл бұрын
Hi good day , the best person (or persons ) to guide you would be the medical council of Jamaica. I don’t know of someone who used that method but it doesn’t mean it’s not a feasible means. The medical council has a website and contact number online that can be used to get more info.

Hi! Saw your post on Twitter about your dad plugging your channel! Had to come and check it out. I’m also your 400th subscriber so I’m awaiting my prize 🥳😅 I selected this video because I’m 28 with postpartum hypertension (going on 2 years); any tips for me? I’ve been doing all the stuff (not consistently at this point) but initially I was & stopped because it felt like it didn’t make a difference.
@journeywithbantu Жыл бұрын
Heyyy ! Just know that my dream last night was literally to wake up and see 400 and I’m so thankful. ❤️. Post partum HTN is definitely one of the least talked about forms of hypertension (right next to hypertension in the young). My advice is to know where you are currently. In order to do that you need multiple BP checks over a few days or if not possible a few weeks. Once you established where you are , you need to set a target. We love BPs under 140/90 and we love 120/80 or less even more. If you’re bps are consistently high , discuss with your doctor a plan to bring the BP down. For some women it’s meds and lifestyle changes for some , it’s the meds. If you start medication it doesn’t mean you can’t come off with lifestyle changes but that process has to be monitored and done step by step. But in summary, establish your baseline, set a target , set a plan that works.

Also it can take months for diet and exercise to show their benefits. Remember keep the salt low and make sure your other labs (sugar , cholesterol) are also good.

Do you think its best to study in jamaica or overseas in terms of medicine? i am currently in my last year in high school.
@journeywithbantu Жыл бұрын
Medicine programs overseas (to the best of my knowledge) require a first degree , where as in Jamaica you can move directly into medical school. I have next to 0 friends who entered medical school through the US system to even compare it to. I would say my view is biased but it depends on your time, goals , finances etc. It takes fewer years in Jamaica.

what’s a proper diet for someone with high cholesterol and is pre diabetic?
@journeywithbantu Жыл бұрын
Hey , so the best person to inform you would be a dietician but generally you want to have a diet with the correct proportion of food items such as chicken , lean meats. Additionally vegetables , carrots , tomatoes. Same can be said about high Cholesterol. Avoid over processed foods. Hydration is important. But everything in moderation.
