I would like to give you something to think about when removing the laquer of your neck as a professional painter of houses. The process is very much the same when I remove laquer of the wooden part of houses. The thing is when you only use a industrial knife, you might damage the grain of the neck, but you have a heatgun to dry the water (which you can spray on you neck with a empty spybottle) I would use the heatgun to carefully heat the gloss finish on the neck and then part for part scrape off the gloss finish, don't do more than 2 inches or 10 cm at a time. you will see that if you don't burn the neck and lightly heat up the gloss finish, the neck will stay intact and the gloss laquer will come off even more easy.

I upgraded a $90 Korean made strat I bought in 2006 (with still useable gig bag thrown in for free) with Guitar Fetish high impedance single coil strat type pick ups, brass bridge block, titanium block saddles, new pots, 5 way switch, input jack and rewiring the tone pots so the bridge pick up could be tone adjusted. Previously, I had the tuners changed to Grover mini locking, a professional set up and frets 10 and higher leveled and crowned by Sal the luthier who was at Sam Ash on Sunset Blvd here in LA for some 20 years who did all the work, first in 2006 and then in 2018. All of that was done for $400, including labor. The brand name is Bronx. It has the best rosewood fretboard I've seen on any guitar. I would put it up against any strat type guitar. The neck single coil sounds exactly like Clapton's Gibson humbucker tone on Disraeli Gears, which was a most pleasant surprise. Custom upgrade your electric guitars yourself is the way to go. No need to spend two grand on a Fender Pro series axe. Sure miss Sal now that Sam Ash closed it's doors. Anyone know how to get a hold of him?

It bears mentioning that when done properly there will be no sharp string ends left sticking up. Pull the string through the post, clamp the string to lock it, then trim the string about ~1/8 - 1/4" from the post PRIOR to tuning. This will ensure that the loose string ends will be drawn down into the tuner during tuning and the sharp string ends will no longer be exposed once strings are tuned to pitch.

@balintkiss22732 күн бұрын
Do you want to strip the lacquer off the maple fretboard ? If it's rosewood then there is no point of course. Bear in mind fretboards are radiused, so you need to remove the frets and go with a radiused block with a sandpaper, and work your way up with grits. It's possible to do, but not with the frets on, coz that would be a mess and quite inconsistent.

Script and stats aside. I would say it makes a good begginers guitar because it is a combination of the same 'architecture as the fender and Gibson so it will make it easier to move from one to the other. I have one of the earlier ones that was poorly made. .I had to file one side of the finger board straight. I had the same nack design on my first electric in the 1970's.. They can be made into instruments as good as any other.

You need to seperate off the metalwork from the pickup coil for this wiring to work properly. Cut the little wire that runs from the baseplate to the eyelets on the bridge pickup, and the wire that runs from the cover to the eyelets on the neck pickup and attach seperate earth wires for them. Cheers M

The physics of the middle pickup are what makes it work. It has much less to do with "harmonic nodes" than it does with how the virtual string center changes as you fret a string. With the middle pickup, the more you work your way down the fretboard, the closer the center of the fretted string gets to the center of the pickup. This makes the not more fundamental and less harmonic, which also compensates for the reduced string energy due to the string being shorted in the fretted positions, so it also normalizes volume to an extent.
