At distances ranging from a mile to 10F on turf, Bankable was always rock solid and rarely ever gave a poor accounting of himself. Especially in Dubai at Nad Al Sheba and Meydan. But it may have been the explosive turn of foot he showed at Meydan in 2011 when he dropped down in trip to 6F, switching from turf to tapeta, and exploding to win the G3 Mahab Al Shimaal. I'd gotten so used to seeing Bankable racing at a mile, or 9F, or 10F on turf in the big G1 races in Dubai and Singapore that who knew at 7 years of age that he still had a sprinters speed racing at 6F, and could carry that speed on the main track equally as well. Bankable looked like he'd been shot out of a cannon through the stretch in this race. He finished all over the top of this field.

Shocking very unlucky, but a great win by Descarado given his Turnbull run and his wide barrier draw.

Riva Ridge didn't win 3yr old champion what a joke this was a helluva good horse. Had the Preakness not come up sloppy,RR would be TC winner,a shame that the horse hated mud and it rained bad in Baltimore,MD that day. ppl have forgotten how good RR was.

Tough little filly! She didn't always win, but she made you work to beat her. I remember Reem beating stablemate Mahbooba on both of their Meydan debuts in the UAE 1000 Guineas Trial and really served it up to her again in the UAE 1000 Guineas before finishing 2nd. She also went to the turf and served up a big dose of that same tenacity to stablemate River Jetez who had to fight hard to beat her in the G2 Balanchine in her start right before beating the boys like an old rug here in the Al Bastikiya.

It's hard to believe given all the talented horses that raced at Meydan during the 4 seasons they were using the tapeta surface on the main track(2010,2011, 2012, & 2013), but it's Golden Sword right here in this lowly, little old conditions race that posted the fastest time ever racing over 10f/2000 meters on the tapeta surface, crossing the line in a final time of 2:02:40. Since they switched the main track over to conventional dirt before the start of the 2014 carnival, I'm not sure if a faster time for that distance has yet been posted, but I do know Golden Sword does hold the track record for 2000 meters on tapeta in this race.

Geez! What a magnificent horse.
