VERY COOL! Thanks so much for recording and posting all these high quality vids from the 2010 marching band season. We had a child in the NICU that year and missed many of the performances. It's just wonderful to see these vids from 12 years ago!! :)

Oh my. Learn brass? I think I'd almost have better luck learning color guard-ness. I can hardly get a solid tone out of my dad's Boy Scout bugle, much less control what note I make. I suppose it doesn't help much though that some of the tubing is missing....and replaced with tubing from a cow milker. And I'm pretty sure the mouthpiece got bent and is suck in the opening. Poor bugle...it is quite old.

@pchsalumni This show deserved 1st place at Grand Nationals. Not because of money, but because it's imaginative and good. It is widly felt that BOA favors certain bands. I just came back from the Grand Nationals 2011 and sadly I agree. This show is very good though. I really enjoyed every band I saw. All were outstanding. I like Union's show better than BA's this year and Lafayette's, as well as The Woodlands deserved to be in the top five.

As far as the tenors go. They haven't had tenors in a few years on the field. They still use them in parades, but they have a very strict rule that if they can't field a clean set of tenors for performance, they will not use ANY tenors. The first time I saw this was in 2006 for their Aqua performance and when I asked the Band Director (Scott Tomlinson at the time) about the tenors, what I told you is exactly what he told me.

To answer comments or questions about the cost of all the equipment and visuals (I'm a pride alumni myself [class of '94 drumline, yea i know i'm old]) And about no tenors. To answer question 1.) These kids do a whole lot of fundraising starting as far back as 8th grade and they have a private account that they and their parents can chip-in to and via parents working the concessions during football games. In fact, most of the money for equipment and visuals are wholly paid for by the students.
