This is true, but the tech is not the same. No GPS with accurate speed and range data and your battery would not be sealed nor would it have as many safety features. Not sure what happens if it gets submerged on an open battery but I have dropped the Torqeedo ones in the water and they still work. It is just not apples to apples. I am not saying the others are bad at all and I am working on a review now, but they are just not the same.

Only thing I would like better about a slide in , is the ease of removing it and it’s contents, I use my truck for a lot of different things besides camping, this works great for you as a professional fisherman though awesome build We had a sunlite pop up for years and I miss the fast set up and removal,we just out grew it as a family and now we are back to just two , so a pop up would be nice to be able to go and tow a boat at same time with one vehicle

would it work to slide this motor instead of the mirage drive with a DIY.. or the motor size is too big to slide through that place? i did the DIY with torqeedo 1HP and it worked well. basically my question is regarding the actual size of the case of the motor if it will go through the space of mirage drive on my pro angler 14 .. as I prefer the motor to be installed at the middle and not at the back of the kayak.

@roadtripangler

Yep! I keep mine inflated most of the time. Just make sure to leave it a bit under inflated especially in the summer. It will expand in heat. I typically just top it off at the ramp and deflate a bit for storage and travel

Not the mention that the battery case is made of mixed with ceramic and it can contain the fire within the case without the fire is burning out. Self contained fire proof box. Most people go with new port of the price points and not to concern with the technology that Torqueedo put out. That’s understandable. If ur wallets are fat, go for it otherwise stick with cheap Chinese copycat.

For sure that is something to consider. There are some benefits to that like having accurate speed and range data that you get because their battery has built in gps and it is way more sealed and protected around water than any other off the shelf battery, but you pay for the added tech and durability.

Going to be real interested in your compare this to Bixpy and especially Newport. A NK300 with a 36v 55Ah LiTime battery is half the price of this (1550$). The pro-torqeedo folks will point out that Newport is China made vs German made torqeedo. However, I'm not sure where/how they are made ever since Torqeedo sold out to Yamaha. I have the 1103 and it's been tough, especially since I beat the snot out of it weekly on my local shoalie rivers. I like the idea that this new model has the removable/higher quality bottom fin. Either way, I agree that it would be hard to justify that extra cost.

Rubber seal breaking down before the kayak is even used!! Not a great way to the start of a video. If I’m spending $1999 plus accessories for a plastic mold. the quality has to be better in my opinion, even though it may be inexpensive to replace; why can’t they just fix the issue? What else have they “cheaped” out on?
@roadtripangler
@roadtripangler Ай бұрын
I can say that I have had and used it for a while now and that is the only thing that has been an issue. I have still got no water in the boat and the only thing that happened was the glue reactivated when it was hot and became loose. This is common on even the most expensive 3m seals. I have some on my truck camper and have to replace them constantly because the glue just gets hot in the sun. Don’t know what they could do to improve this being they are the makers of the glue that doesn’t hold up.

That's not a kayak, that's just marketing BS! Once you hang a motor off it and you are using that as your primary means of propulsion what you are really in is an undersized thermoplastic mini boat being marketed as a kayak. That's reality and there is nothing wrong with that, but you are kidding yourself if you think this is kayak fishing because some marketer sold you on that silly notion. You bought a tiny thermoplastic mini boat, definitely NOT a kayak! LOL

As always - Great Video and very helpful content. How would you say this boat compares to the Jackson Take Two, in terms of stability and performance? I currently have the Take Two and fish it solo, but that thing is HEAVY and I'm thinking of swapping it our for a Pursuit since on paper, it looks to be about 30 - 40 pounds lighter (when fully rigged). I'm mostly a paddler, so I just would be curious about your opinion of the comparison between the 2 boats from a paddling and performance standpoint. Thanks in advance

For sure. Lots of water to explore. I was only in town for the episode, but my strongest recommendation is to hire a guide a couple times if you can. Be upfront and tell them you are looking to learn and they will share so much knowledge. Otherwise just get out there. Time on the water watching for birds, seeing the current and bait, and finding ponds that flood during hightide and get supper skinny during low will usually lead to fish.
