Nice work! Sure looks like a tough job but great to understand what it takes to do with a home shop. I’ve seen in another video where the shop pulls the engine out with a hoist and he claims it’s way easier that way. What do you think? Spares the subframe removal and less time on the back assuming one can get an engine hoist.

did you ever figure out the fitment issue?

No, they sent me another front side piece for the bumper but it was identical,

Besides skipping the disconnection, that plastic retainer was definitely not seated correctly. It'll be a repeat offended or it can even get stuck when it's half way in gear and cause internal damage.

Maybe, but its Been over 2 years since this video now and my neighbor has yet to have any issues.

I fix my own and my parents' car, that's that. Did a few digging because i was told to join the mechanic field, you don't get paid for warranty, or you have to finish the part change on xyz time, and something about a flat rate, yeah no, ill fix my own. Rust belt state, so much fun

Don't blame the mechanics, we are also getting ripped off while the dealership gets rich.

If you are mechanically inclined and have a little experience wrenching id say 10-16 hours maybe at most, I remember doing my first head gasket on one of these at the dealer and knocked it out in less than 2 work days. You got this.

I have had both the milwaukee and snap on ratchets and milwaukee will definitely do the job snap-on is definitely a heavier duty ratchet no major difference in power output from what I have been using them for. Keep at it, diesel service is a great gig
@LetsDriftMedia3 күн бұрын
Nice, I I mainly favor snap on for the button trigger and tool size opposed to Milwaukee's. All comes to personal preference is all.

How to start as an auto mechanic? Any advice
@LetsDriftMedia12 сағат бұрын
Either go to a tech school to get some certifications to get your foot in the door at a shop, or just start applying as a lube tech everywhere as they don't require much to get in as that, then work your way up.

I did not, suprisingly the factory sub still sounds alright and I have a box with 2 kicker 10"s from my old LS I plan to install. Here are the links to what I went with. Im 39 and looking for a solid JOB. Maybe a career would be nice...😂 I have plenty of ambition to work hard physically doing anything. But i feel like other people feel I'm too old and don't wanna give me a chance.😢 Ive worked my ass off helping my older brothers build their business. A four bay classic auto restoration garage! Now im on my own looking for my own thing...😂 Applied as a lube tech at a dealership with my experience in my bros 4 bay restoration shop. I know a little about vehicles and thought i could def do a lube tech job. Nope .. some other candidate. Same old story... Anyways. I think im more "cutout" to be a carpenter/housing construction type work...😂 Or maybe i just suck at interviews....😂😂😂 Point being. It sux being 39 and in the workforce trying to get something "worthwhile"... My experience working for my "brothers" doesnt exactly give solid work experience if ya know what i mean ...😢 It is a legit business, but the jobs im looking at are looking for accomplished and certified people, not me... I was thinking about dedicating all my time and energy towards a brakes A5 Certificate, and get doing brakes for a business or some garage.🎉 But the more i think.... Maybe im better off furthering my construction/carpentry skills and getting a job there. Im still in good shape and way healthier than that fat old timer who interviewed me!!😂😂🎉🎉 I also have more carpentry tools than automotive tools! That makes more sense. I just applied to a window installer/carpentry position. 😂😂😂😂🎉 Your videos have given me important insights into the business I didn't know existed!😂 Way different than restoring some old junker in your freetime for a profit!!😂 Thanks anyways for your videos🎉 They are incredibly insightful for all of is out there wondering about the wonderful world of automotive work!😂🎉 Hourly fleetwork sounds like a dream!...😂 🎉 Keep up all the hard work Nikko!!!🎉 🔧

Last year 2023 I made 170k as a used car tech at a Honda dealership in socal. longest days of my life lol used to work from 6am-8/9 even 10 pm sometimes. Unfortunately I was just at the right place at the right time, Work was scarce afterwards and left to Acura. Comfortably averaging about 10,000$ a month after taxes at a higher rate of course.
@LetsDriftMedia10 күн бұрын
Thats really good money for the dealer man, I really wish I ventured into the used car tech side when I was there seems alot easier to make money as the dealer already bought the used cars so the repairs are basically pre approved unless its something major.

I use impact sockets and extensions for everything . makes me wonder why chrome is a thing ? shiny maybe?
@LetsDriftMedia10 күн бұрын
Chrome sockets are usually thinner walled, every once in awhile an impact socket wont fit where as a chrome socket would. But it for majority jobs impact sockets will. Just my guess maybe.

how much this job will cost at a dealership?
@LetsDriftMedia10 күн бұрын
13hr job, so depends on the dealers hourly rate, most Toyotas now are at $170 an hour or more so minimum $2200 for labor alone.
