I would say for me and many I work with or know it is due to unhealthy thinking, emotion and trauma stockpiling,and other things that make things harder in life, like poor character discernment, unhealthy boundaries, unforgiveness and more. I wrote a book called Choosing the Unfinished Bridge which is about my journey and what I learned. If you’re interested in learned more about how many (including myself) have healed from PNES and PTSD, you can check it out on Amazon.

When there is no solution to your traumas you can cry, argue, but there is no solution you are hitting a brick wall . You can be sick and doctors agree that you are sick with a disease but the CDC and insurance company’s have decided that you have received the allowed treatment even though your doctor wants you to have more medication. So you go from doctor to doctor who don’t except insurance because insurance companies will try to take away their license to be a doctor so you pay and get the medication and are cured .

I have a book i recently published. In this book I share what I needed to heal. I’m seizure free for 9 years now. It was not through a doctor, because they didn’t know- insurance or not. If you want to take your own journey, and want to learn (outside of what I have already freely shared on KZbin), it’s called Choosing the Unfinished Bridge, by Christine Miller. It can be found on Amazon in ebook or paperback and by mid-September it should be available on audiobook. I am also working to get it into libraries and on library apps. … I did find my solution and deeply desire to share this hope I’ve found and life freely in.

I really feel for you having to have endured this experience of having these type of Dissociative seizures which are related to FND as I was recently diagnosed with that this year. I've had CPR four times due to going into either cardiac or respiratory distress. I decided not to give up but rather fight for a proper diagnosis to having Hypoxic episodes. As it turns out I also have Patent Foramen Ovale (Hole in the heart) or PFO. Should the CPR not have been done I wouldn't be here today to advocate for myself and for my family.

What heals PNES?
@ChristineMauriello7 ай бұрын
Healing is the only route. PNES is caused by something - medical, emotional, physiological, or spiritual (etc). When we find our root we make steps towards healing. My husband had an allergy component and I had a trauma component- both had to be addressed to heal. I’ve called PNES a red flag disorder, find and resolve the causes and the PNES is no longer necessary

I had no choice, I was in some really desperate circumstances and I couldn’t do anything but focus on my own survival. During that time some things happened and I wasn’t able to be there and I couldn’t help someone really close to me during a difficult situation. It wasn’t handled the way it should’ve been, and I was talking to my therapist about it. I started crying and it got really intense. I have tried to commit suicide, but if it weren't for for knowing Jesus I would have been dead. I started out with grandma seizures at the very beginning as well 15 years before, but then time passed I had the VNS implant, I thought would help. Boy was I wrong. Medications have not helped so far. Now I'm to the point where I don't have a home, I want run away and hide from everyone because no one believes me. Now I have lost feeling through out my body I have problems talking and I have moments where I still blackout. People just walk away when I have my seizures though, so I just feel like I am in everyone's way. I want to help others not myself. I just don't feel like I have been able to do enough for others. And I miss my daughter. I still love my husband but I know it's over. I will never be able to go home again. 😢 I agree. Doctors also need to do more to have more life saving training and research to save lives. Thank you ❣️

Sorry for the delay! Many doctors who haven’t specialized in PNES/NEAD are not refined to see the difference and are not always (commonly) aware that there are medical causes possible (like food allergies, celiac, mold, and other non psychological causes. That isn’t to say that there isn’t a psychological cause as well - I know people who have both, psychological only and medical only. Get a good second opinion or third until you feel confident that the doctor is experienced with your needs and not just speaking from hypotheticals. You’re life is worth the extra effort to find a specialist and then go based off of their expertise. Neurologists are the best bet but again only if they say they specialize in PNES/NEAD - otherwise you could have an experience where I did, where you’re given no hope of recovery - in fact, told there is no cure or recovery….I’m 8 years seizure free because I didn’t listen. Sending you hope and peace and love, in Him!

If I may suggest, there is a lot of help within support groups among peers. If your struggle is with anxiety or depression, start there. If you already know that you have unhealthy coping mechanisms, start there. It’s just one step at a time. If you could change 3 things about your life (not other people) what would they be. Break those down into small pieces or goals and even work with your counselor to help. Our healing is about change 🙂 I hope that helps. @ChristineMauriello2 жыл бұрын
Good morning! You are 100% correct. I would never tell anyone to forgive themselves for any crime done to them. My point, and I’m very sorry that I wasn’t more clear, was more about our Internal response to what happened. Not that it was true, but I blamed myself for what happened as a child at the hands of a predator. I told myself that if I was better or nicer that he wouldn’t have done that. I also told myself that there must be something wrong with me. I in no way was at all at fault or responsible for the harm done but my underdeveloped response system blamed myself and moved on believing that. For that I had to undo those beliefs and apologize and forgive myself, because I am not now nor was I ever, bad, deserving the abuse of anyone. Does that make it more clear? I hope I am. I’m so sorry for what has happened in your life. My heart goes out to you. 💜

I do want to say sorry for the cruel experiences that you have gone through. That’s awful. Something I think it’s important to note is that EMS usually elicit a pain response on an unresponsive person to determine just how sick they are. Normally it’s not done for the sake of inflicting pain but to see if the person has a verbal or groaning response instead of being apneic or completely limp
@ChristineMauriello2 жыл бұрын
I believe you - I don’t believe it is the main reason, in my experience I heard what was being said and they had gone in with an assumption that they could bring me out - so in my case when one person was unsuccessful another did it (somewhat confident that their pressure was insufficient) way more painfully. After regaining ability to talk and interact again I begged them not to hurt me again and they stopped. I’m not saying it is everyone in the medical field - in fact I’m explaining to others that I believe that they are experiencing extreme issues within their practice of pill seekers, mental illness (which their not equipped to handle compassionately) and more. I believe that the vast majority of medical professionals have a heart to help those hurting. I believe if we have more training then we will compassionately come to more humane and loving treatments of all peoples (including those who the medical profession cannot help medically). Thanks so much for replying!

Hope you are doing better after all these years. Our problem is getting the correct diagnosis. So many Dr's want to say it is epilepsy so they can suggest a drug. After many years finally a Dr said PNES, but without any direction. Do you only have these events when you are awake or have you had some in your sleep?
@ChristineMauriello2 жыл бұрын
You’re absolutely correct! Unfortunately medical practice is steered towards pharmaceuticals and because PNES is largely attributed to psychological and past traumas, they are powerless in that field. I have been seizure-free for almost 7 years, but I personally am not aware of whether I had seizures while asleep. I do know many many many who do though - this is extremely common. Non epileptic seizures are a red flag disorder. There are many many causes, including medical causes, allergies to food, vitamin deficiency, trauma, etc. No one can say that these are all about trauma because many people have complex causes. According to the Amen clinics, people with PNES who have had SPECT scans have been found to have multiple medical causes, including mold toxicity. You need the right team. If your medical professional is looking to place you and your symptoms in a box, then they are not the right one for you in your journey. Advocate for yourself by knowing your rights. ❤️❤️❤️
@tamifromvirginia40462 жыл бұрын
@@ChristineMauriello Have you been to the Amen Clinic? We have one very close to us and I was not sure what to think of them. I agree with you, stress might or might not be the cause. I sometimes wonder if my son's early childhood vaccines caused them. I want to find an answer before he starts this new epilepsy drug, I do not like the sounds of it. This Dr. only wants to say focal seizures but I do not believe.
@ChristineMauriello2 жыл бұрын
@@tamifromvirginia4046 I personally have not been to the clinics but I have been helped greatly by Dr. Amen's books. Several clients of mine have been to the clinic and have all received great hope and help in their evaluations. If there is an indication in the brain of anything that is off, I believe it will show on their SPECT scans. Unfortunately, insurance will not pay up front but I have heard firsthand that they may refund up to 85%. Check with your insurance company. Another thing I strongly feel is undervalued and under utilized is food allergy testing - there was a friend with PNES who was discovered to have celiacs disease (allergy to gluten). Once it was discovered and the gluten was eliminated, he didn't have any more seizures. Another client had pineapple caused seizures. Please keep in mind, these seizures are "red flags" to some root cause. Keep advocating until you/they find it! Please feel free to reach out to me if you need any support. [email protected]

He has failed so many meds, numerous VEEG's and spent many months not living life. We found the right product and he is seizure free. He takes it twice a day under the tongue. Try it, it might work and let you live life. Big Pharma hates it but it works.
@ChristineMauriello2 жыл бұрын
I believe in natural care too but as far as solving the problem it can’t cure this. PNES/FND is a red flag disorder. To get the solution you need to find a cause. Best to you both in finding what this has been trying to get your attention to.
@tamifromvirginia40462 жыл бұрын
@@ChristineMauriello we are on that path now to find someone to help find the cause so we can hopefully find answers. My son is still not convinced with the new diagnosis but he is open for treatment options. This has been a long, painful journey and change is hard for some to accept. My fiance is one of my biggest support systems. I do go to therapy and I do take meds for my anxiety and depression so that helps keep that part under control. My fiance knows my limits and boundaries as do I so we avoid all triggers as much as possible. But my triggers are also due to heat and stress being in any kind of pain certain meds or if I have flashbacks or dreams of past traumas. Fear anxiety and sometimes they just happen in my sleep. Also if I'm overworked or not getting enough sleep then those are triggers too. We always make the best possible accomodations as we see fit. But the therapy does help alot

I've always been one to not be so open about them though because it's something that makes me feel embarrassed or insecure in a way sometimes I lose control on my bodily functions. Like bladder control and stuff. It's very emotionally draining sometimes. Just yesterday I was out with my grandma and aunt and I had a bad migraine I couldn't shake and I started to feel a seizure coming on and I started to panic and had to remember not to panic and to just breathe and calm down. I usually avoid public places if not feeling that great or anything because of them. The only seizure I have had in public was in my church a year ago and then when me and my fiance were going to get our oldest daughter from school. Which kudos to her for being able to keep our youngest daughter calm keep herself calm and still be able to drive to a safe spot while holding me and talking to me and making sure I was ok and still breathing. And still making sure we got our daughter on time. That was one of the toughest ones i had to go the hospital because my breathing was very shallow and I wasnt waking up she after the normal time I usually wake up. I just couldn't catch my breath and fully come to
