Love this piece! Is there any way to find and obtain soundfonts or instrument assets for other music softwares? I am not very familiar with tracker music and how to use their instruments in more modern software.

Human civilization is in a huge turmoil. Lights of progress are fading away and may not reappear in our lifetime. But I have a hope that our civilization will reinvent itself and overcome its troubles. And lights of progress will start emerging and pushing away the darkness even better than before. I think this video does a great job to artistically represent this hope of mine.

Try playing this to Don McLean's "Vincent" (you know, the song that goes like "starry, starry night").

Wow, this brings me such a powerful nostalgia, I almost struggle to find words for how this makes me feel. I remember that early computing held such promise for me as a young introvert, like the future was so bright and exciting, a whole world to explore and make my own. And contrast that with the profound disappointment I feel in the way we've gone with social media, the corporatization of the internet, and generative AI being used not to better our society, but to take art away from artists. Maybe it's just me getting older, but I feel like we've lost our way. Seeing something like Starry Night after all these years reminds we of the wide eyed wonder I felt, and the sadness of losing that.

As a little kid, I remember playing around with screensavers on my parents' Macintosh Performa running OS 9. I don't have any specific memory of seeing Starry Night, but this looks familiar to me in a super nostalgic way, and I sure as hell know that kid me played around with every single screensaver in the After Dark pack, so I almost certainly did. It's absolutely beautiful watching this. Incredible how one of the first screensavers ever was already damn near perfect. Thanks for the links to the remakes, by the way. I can confirm that the macOS version still works, even on Apple Silicon, as of 13.2 Ventura.

Nice, for sure, I totally agree -- this seemingly "basic" screensaver has ended up being my favorite of all time. As a kid it piqued my imagination and I never stopped liking it!! Nice, glad to hear the MacOS version still works on latest. I use the Windows version on my Win PC of course, though it's not as nice as the original After Dark module. Still awesome though! haha :)

I was only 9 when this was uploaded. I still remember playing an xbox original then switching to the 360. It was a magical feeling. The dashboard, the improvement in graphics, and Halo 3. I remember just downloading all of the trailers and ViDocs whenever they released and kept rewatching them because of how impatient I was for Halo 3. Good times. The jump to Xbox One and Series X, as well as the playstation consoles, they don't feel as big as the jump from xbox og to 360.
