Umm. Iam an Australian. We have never had squirrels here on this whole entire country. Sorry they were never introduced here, nor New Zealand. Only red fox were introduced by man. We are one of the very few countries that don't have any breed of squirrel. Iam elderly now and know this very well. Though I do love them n very cute. I love watching their antics on TV shows from England and America.

Thank you for Teaching me about Squirrels! My Squirrel is sitting behind my pillow the whole time as I stroked his little head as he fell asleep! They are such playful happy fun creatures but man can really wreak havoc if your not careful.. cuz they chew up everything and have very very sharp nails and constantly climb, jump, play and run around for hours and hours and hours if not the entire day till they randomly nap.. I suppose mine is relatively very young still being only about 2 months old I think..

I have a friend squirrel I named her sandy. Since late winter early spring she would come outside my window daily in the mornings. Started noticing loud sounds in my trash can and she would just wait I come out to stare at me. 1 day I decided to feed her and ever since she comes daily. I was recently sick with covid very sick, my son told me she would come every day looking for me 🥺. Yesterday was my 1st day seen her since I got covid she was very happy to see me

Thanks for more information on squirrels. I had rescued a baby squirrel and set her free. It's been almost 1/2 a year and she has daily come back here for seeds and nuts. Who knows, she'll be old enough soon to have babies... and in a few months will bring them here!

Lol, "Buh- shee" tails, too cute. That is the way I am going to say "bushy" from now on. One poor baby squirrel in my yard has terrible mange so bad that he has no fur on his back, and an injured paw. I think the cold weather will be especially hard on him. I try to make sure he gets food before the other fatso squirrels in the yard. Hopefully it will help keep him warm so he can recover. I must have close to 20 squirrels foraging my small backyard - they are after the bird seed. I throw them ears of corn so they leave something for the birds! If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! Not their fault that they are here. All living things deserve a chance.

I get medication from a vet that clears up the mange my squirrels get, a drop on a nut, wait 2 weeks and again if needed.
@mamaboocee2 жыл бұрын
@@amyp1930 is it ivermectin by any chance? How do you get it for wild squirrels - some of those poor things were in bad shape- loss of fur on almost the whole back - I think nest mates sleeping together for warmth spread it like wildfire! We also had finches with those air sac mites - I had to stop feeding the birds. I was so upset because we just started getting house finches and purple finches back in the area. They use ivermectin for that but there is no way to dose wild finches. Now I change feeding places often and clean the birdbaths EVERY day. It breaks my heart to see them suffer when I am helpless to do something for them! Thanks for the info! That one little squirrel last winter did well because I fed him what ever he wanted and kept the bullies away from him. He got ALL better - fur grew in nice and thick. I just don't know how he didn't freeze to death! But he didn't! He was a little sweetheart - now he is the boss of the yard! He's a sweet thing! The hawk got all the fat bullies! Shows you how smart my little guy is, the hawk didn't get him!
@amyp19302 жыл бұрын
@mamaboo cee, yes it is s Ivermectin, I googled wildlife rehabilitation vets in my area and I get it from her. It works quickly with one or 2 doses. Good luck 🐿🐾
@mamaboocee2 жыл бұрын
@@amyp1930 wow! But you needed a vet rx? I suppose I could find one. I really wanna help the poor little squirrels that get the mange this winter - they lose fur when they need it most, constant scratching and no rest will kill the poor things, not to mention spreading mange to healthy squirrels - maybe now I will have something in my arsenal to help the birds and the squirrels. The ivermectin for birds might be a topical medicine, I don't know - but I can ask the vet. It is sad to watch a bird decline and you can't do anything about it.
