Dang, they weren't kidding; this really is a very short movie! All joking aside, it's actually kind of jarring to see the cast of Azumanga Daioh animated like this. But... jarring in a good way.

Gee, no wonder why people wanted to see a full Azumanga Daioh anime upon seeing this web short; even now, I'd say it's quite solid! Wasn't expecting to see the hallways animated in 3D, though. Like, that really surprised me.

This is the origin of the "Azumanga Daioh" anime. It was released on December 22, 2001 as a short film with a running time of 5 minutes on Toei Western Film. Titled ``Winter Kadokawa Anime'', it was screened at the same time as ``Sakura Wars Activity Photo'', ``Slayers Premium'', and ``Di Gi Charat Star Journey''. It was then adapted into an anime from April to September 2002.(これが「あずまんが大王」のアニメの原点。 2001年12月22日に東映洋画系で上映時間5分の短編映画として公開。『冬の角川アニメ』と題し、『サクラ大戦活動写真』『スレイヤーズぷれみあむ』『Di Gi Charat 星の旅』3作と同時上映された。そして、2002年4月から9月までアニメ化された。)
