I just got this book and have not started it. It is big and looks forbidding - with lots of graphics about indeterminacy. To be honest I might skip parts. But I have not read it yet.

Overall the book reminds me of one quote: Huxley said that worse than knowing we could learn from history(or that our cycles repeat) worse is knowing we will not learn from our history.

9:00 Awesome review thus far. I would push back on the eternal return of Fritz. It was a thought experiment - not an actual recurrence. The idea that we would live our lives over again and again was meant to teach to accept the good and bad as ordered, rather than pine away for some imagined fantasy or destiny.

You have saved me much thought, that I put towards more reading. Thank you for collating the new releases. You have me considering reading Gladwell again, I was turned off completely. Also the book about thriving in dark times(Canadian here and also got a lamp, this year, to help with the long winter.) sounds like my cup of tea as well. Wow Keri is so right - I used to love the winter when I was a kid - and I lived way up north. It was the skiing and my dogs, and sledding and... It is about love what you have, especially when you do not have what you want.

Secular, no afterlife, so live the most now. (Our feeling of time would change if there was knowledge of afterlife) Hard work (to prove you are the chosen) - Calvanism (interesting, you work hard, survive, thrive and therefore you are seen to be chosen, good) Procrastinate because work is beyond talents potentially (yes me but also interests) Opportunity cost to everything, not just finance

Hello Bjorn. I have read a few psychology books and took classes. I found they have helped in certain areas. Also, I have been thinking, well in my opinion, a lot of people when they get older seem to not want to rekindle old relationships much. (myself included). Probably, because it’s a lot of emotional effort to invest and takes a lot of mental energy to detach. For example, I had a friend (he was a Swede). I learned about the culture and it takes longer to warm up which I am okay with. Almost half my heritage is East and West Slavic. And I am an introvert mostly so, I was like, he gets to me when he can. But it’s been almost two decades and I felt I gave more of myself than I was getting of him. Therefore, last week, I told him it was best I didn’t stay in contact with him. I wasn’t rude and wished him well. The initial act of letting my attachment go was the hardest part but feel I can slowly move forward. I was upset. I don’t know many Swedes. However, than, I thought, it’s ridiculous. Learning about the culture and the language can make one ‘Swedish’ in a sense. Honorary Swede lol. But one person doesn’t define a whole culture. I am still going to learn Swedish regardless. I had an interest in Swedish long before I knew him.

I wish I had the patience to share the books as you do. It is desperately important for us to read, and learn to think critically. We will not get there reading pop fiction and mindless self-help. We have evolved to needing deeper insights, and that requires us to engage deeply with the material, and the material must be up to the depth.

this book is a lie. it's just another theosophy book teaching astral projection and the path of getting your mind possessed by a form of thought. in fact the holly fathers of Christianity thought for 2000 years that the devil works most of the time as a form of thought invading your mind with false information, fears and finally mental illness. it's funny how they actually state religion is bad and a form of fear, but their method is better "do it thy will" and you will project your thought form into your reality if you brainwash yourself through repetition. let me summaries this book for you, for anyone who've actually read few pre new age astral projection books written hundreds of years ago, where they teach you to project your thought into objects at first, contemplate what you see and then finally project your consciousness into the sky-universe and break the time-space barrier, they are teaching the exact same thing and methods, bur formulated in a different way, and eliminating all the spirituality and God factor and future methods involving contemplating God through prayer and meditation, by teaching your to project into your past/present/future and combining these methods with your desires for money and a better life, things that may fulfill by chance or not. what they don't tell you is that you's open to dangerous entities that will eat you alive and drive you mad and anyone with new age practical experience will validate this if it's done without proper guidance and deep prayer. also they validate the reincarnation BS and stating that their method breaks the reincarnation cycle because you actually get to live your true correct life, where in fact the cycles of hell have been broken by Christ that took people our of hell and preached that he is the Way to further salvation

I cannot compliment Robert Greene enough. He truly is a caring & helpful "professor type" that has a whole lot of mindfulness through accumulating knowledge, wisdom, ones own life experiences and awareness to APPLY those values into practical action steps. Now that sounded like I'm a promoter or a writer. I'm not a promoter and I don't have any books on the market nor am I "a hired gun" of some type. I am just a person who has listened to the advice from Robert Greene, taken notes and APPLIED HIS VALUABLE INSIGHTS INTO EVERY DAY ACTION STEPS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BOOK. ROBERT, WHERE IS MY STIPEND?😂😭THANK YOU ROBERT GREENE.

A study of more than 50 mammal species found that, in over 80 per cent of cases, zoo animals live longer than their wild counterparts. Sholdn’t wild animals live longer with all that stressors like hunger, heat, cold etc or they are only promoting lifespan in humans 🤔

The 'Momento Mori' by Joanna Ebenstein. And 'How Economics Explains The World: A Short History of Humanity' by Andrew Leigh look pretty interesting. I swear, I read more than just end of life stuff. It is more due to 'The bug' and personal life events. Last summer I was mostly reading productivity and 'Goosebumps' books. However, in my opinion/personal experience, reading end of life content is like taking bad tasting medicine that is effective. It's uncomfortable but you reap the benefits afterwards. I did finish 'Meditations' by Marcus Aurelius but now, I am thinking about reading ' Journey of Souls' by Micheal Newton.

What’s a book club without the capacity for civilised discussion? And if you crowbar open the being of the other participants that is antithetical to civility actually. And it’s unclean as the Bible says 🪬. Is there anyone left who isn’t a wolf here and who wants to observe ego boundaries between self and other? Frankly you’ve all taken #fomo too far when you’ve all been persuaded as a mass of people to just drool and offload all bodily waste upon your fellow man. It is profane and it’s unclean and nasty. Do you all idolise Dawkins so much that you just can’t live without watching him go to the lavatory? Couldn’t you just patiently wait for him to release his next book and considering the pros and cons and merits and fallacies of which there are many of said book (instead of following him into the gents in the unseen spiritual realm?) This is mass psychosis and it’s exactly what the Bible spoke of in the last days. Please get right with Jesus. You’ve all ruined my going to book clubs because you all cave in upon me and I have to carry all the bricks (or maybe books in this case) on my shoulders because of your evil eye because you’re lawless Pharisees and pagans and unbelievers. I don’t even care if you don’t believe the Truth. You would all claim to be civilised but you have no manners or sense of propriety and your knowledge and material existence is a thin patina for your atavism and savagery. And it’s the dregs. It’s the dregs. And there is a way to live that is clean. You’d rather be groom of the stool for some fallen men you idolise rather than Kings under the King of Kings who is the Lord Jesus re: whom and without whom none of these books would have been written. And who is one way or another the ghost author behind all that has been written. He is the Alpha and the Omega. I can’t go to a book club because you’re all barking mad.
