That last berm on Sir Squatchalot is crazy good. Your trail building skills have improved a ton. Your first efforts had the trails a bit skinny and the berms a bit small. It’s crazy-hard to envision a trail and get it right the first time. (Fellow trail builder here.) I’ve watched every video and enjoy the hell out of em. See you in the spring. I have a friend with a vacation house in Sierra City. As Brian would say, “Maybe I’ll see you on the trail.”

I greatly appreciate you watching all my videos. It's really awesome to hear that. I feel like I'm getting more efficient with the trail building, and I have more time to focus on the quality of the build. Phase one was to get them all roughed in. Now phase 2. The pimping out process. I look forward to your visit. Maybe we'll get some time to build together. I love to see other people's work and techniques. Thanks

Yeah, my trail! Maybe wait until the trial turns to hero dirt before making anymore changes. The corner with the log--leave it--everyone needs one of those " oh jeeze" moments and your comment: I can't count that high--too funny-LMAO--keep up the trail buliding and positive Everstoke vibes
@mtbingadventures15518 күн бұрын
The log corner is staying, but I added some dirt to help keep speed. The dirt is actually perfect to work with once you get that top layer of ice knocked away. Just sucks trying to test it all out. I feel like I could ride this trail 20% better at least if it wasn't so slimy. I feel great how much I got done this last weekend.

I’m new to doing actual mountain bike trails, did these trails today. I went at a decent speed but not nearly as fast as it looks like you’re going. I’m just wondering, it seems so dangerous to go at these speeds, if you crash off the trail you’re likely smashing into a tree and possibly tumbling down part of the hill. I would think only pros go this fast but lots of folks do it. Is it just not as dangerous as it seems or is there just almost no chance of ever falling/sliding/crashing “off” of the trail? Thanks!
@mtbingadventures155118 күн бұрын
The more you ride, the more comfortable you get with speed. You'll learn what your bike can do. Be sure to learn good habits and proper form. I learned a lot of bad habits, and I sometimes find myself going back to my old ways. I also wouldn't try to go fast. Try to ride smooth, and the speed will come naturally. It is dangerous to crash into anything at high speed or any speed really. You'll find a lot of your crashes result in just a funny little tumble with no injury. I've been riding about 18 years now, and all my crashes were just a few scrapes and bruises. I always try to ride within my abilities, and I'm never too proud to walk a section I'm not comfortable with. You'll fall in love more and more with the sport the better you get. A great way to practice is on a pump track. Hopefully, you have one nearby.

@mtbingadventures155129 күн бұрын
Yes, for the most part, I build all the trails, and he works a lot more on infrastructure for the time being. It just kinda worked out like that. I used to be an HVAC contractor and didn't really want to build much infrastructure stuff. Got really burnt out on running pipelines and electrical. I love digging and designing trails. Brian has been absolutely fascinated with learning how to build stuff, and he's really good at it. It's been working perfectly for us so far. We have had to bounce around a bit, of course, and I believe Brian will want to do some trail building as well once things get a bit further a long

It’s hard to tell from the video, but from my point of view it looks like if you mounded dirt before your big rock roll it would make the point on top of the rock roll further away from the chain ring. Mounding it up starting a couple feet before the roll will make it bigger and smoother rather then smaller and nd having to chip it out
@mtbingadventures155129 күн бұрын
