Definitely my favorite Whiskeytown song. I love the alternative version where the chorus isn't distorted until the second time. The build up is amazing.

thanks for this, great track! reminiscent of A&F's closing track. very curious about Haywire. weren't How Much Light etc also from that album?
@graciousfew9 күн бұрын
How Much Light was on the 2015 "I Do Not Feel like Being Good" single and the song was reportedly recorded with a full band for Haywire, but the released version is a solo acoustic recording rather than the Haywire version (I believe!)

This is great. Was it posted on his IG?
@graciousfew9 күн бұрын
I think it was but it was quickly removed.
@richard62310 күн бұрын
Haywire, the album scrapped by him because it sounded like "adult shit"... makes sense, at least for this song. Nevertheless, I hope we get a PaxAm Archive Series release of the Album, just like Blackhole. It's produced by Glyn Johns, c'mon!
@graciousfew10 күн бұрын
Yeah, he certainly said that, but yes I'd still love to have the whole album too!
@richard62310 күн бұрын
@graciousfew can't wait for it, too. We got Blackhole, now we want Haywire. The song has exactly the same vibe like the Ashes and fire songs. Drummer Jeremy Stacey plays in exactly the same stile, and that Hammond organ again... a leftover from the A&F sessions, possibly.
@housey18888 күн бұрын
hopefully sees light of day. What a beauty of a song.
@Clinen198510 күн бұрын
Haywire would've been a good album. Too bad...

Its amazing the difference an independent producer makes, versus his new stuff.
@graciousfew10 күн бұрын
Yeah, there's no comparison. Even Big Colors and Wednesdays, where he had a bit of help, are miles better produced than everything that came after.

Is this just the clip on loop 🤔
@graciousfew10 күн бұрын
No, I don't quite understand that comment, the clip I had (which is still on this channel) stops at 2:06 (apparently because it was taken from Ryan's IG and Ryan started talking at that point). This version carries on for almost another minute and doesn't repeat.
@Blake-vc3ym10 күн бұрын
@@graciousfewah maybe looped is the wrong word, but it sounds like after the 2:06 mark, an earlier identical, section of the song was just spliced onto it.
@graciousfew10 күн бұрын
@Blake-vc3ym Hi, yes I've listened more closely and it's actually at 2:00 where there is a slight fade at the start of the 2nd chorus and again towards the end of the song. I guess it's possible this is a fan-made adaptation of the earlier clip. You have good ears! Anyway, it still finishes the song off in quite a pleasing way, so hopefully it's pretty much what Ryan intended.
