One of my favourite and most played Ryan Adams tracks over the past few years fantastic guitar solo and what a bass line wind down the windows and turn up the volume

I just received Blackhole in the mail last week. This is one of my favorite tracks, a really solid album. It's crazy the quality of material he has just laying around. I remember when III/IV was released (similar deal, unreleased album sitting in the closet) being struck by the same observation. Most artists dont have a single album as good as the ones Ryan has tucked away.

This whole album is so esoteric and complex. But this song is actually frightening. I don't know what he was channeling on this record but he's never made anything else quite like it. Would love to hear him talk about it track by track. Incredible.

This is so personal, raw, vivid. Ryan brings it on like no other. Massive talent. He mentioned an autobiography recently, would love to see that. This would be an interesting title 👏👏👏

I had this on my turntable this morning! If R ever finds himself bored and wants an adventure...visit me in rural Virginia and let's record a record together in my barn. Would you grant me immunity and shelter from the storm I'm such a lonley man can't sleep alone anymore Could you listen as I ramble on about love and death and war Or just let me die here A firefly in a jar.

Hi Ian. Wonder how long before you find this comment? Several things. Hope you enjoyed your holiday in the Far East. I know your busy schedule has previously prevented you from seeing Ryan live. Well here’s another opportunity for you - all these new dates for 2025!!! SURELY this is your chance. At Ryan’s recent concert in Bath, I sat with some long term male fans and showed them your KZbin channel, with the prolific list of Ryan’s music. They were blown away. And every time I can’t find a slightly obscure Ryan song, I know where to look. You are curating something which boomers, millennials and Gen z can dip into whenever they want to explore Ryan’s VAST discography. So for the umpteenth time, a huge thank you Ian. If there’s a way I can contribute to you and your wife finding good seats for any of next year’s concerts, let me know.

Ah that's really kind of you, but... exciting news... I have got London tickets for the 2nd of April. At last! I'd rather it was a full band, but that's not an option at the moment. Thanks for your kind words re the channel. It's still growing. I'm adding new tracks this weekend which don't appear to be anywhere else online and I'm sure there is still more to find. The relatively new @graciousfew3 channel is becoming home to a lot of other DRA videos as well, so I'm keeping busy! Thanks again and all the best, Ian.

@@graciousfew WOW - tickets at last!!! It’s so silly but that makes me truly happy. It was always inconceivable to me that someone who appreciates Ryan’s music so much and has a whole channel dedicated to him (and his various bands), hadn’t seen him live. I wondered if maybe it was a case of ‘never meet your heroes’ - -? But hey, it’s going to happen and at a great venue too 🫶🏻. I edited my last comment to you because I inadvertently managed to make you sound like a pauper - by offering to gift you tickets I mean 😂 Pls feel free to delete any/all of this. I often forget this is a worldwide public platform 👀✨👀.

I wish someone would do a piano tutorial for this cause it's Awesome and im rubbish at isolating notes as I'm slowing teaching myself. Ps I'm rubbish, but I think I could play and sing along to this. Cause it's not too fast. Or does someone know a link to another video????

Lyrics echo aspects of Dear Prudence -- "come on out and play." Although unlike Prudence Mrs. Lovely appears to be married (who likes to french kiss Ryan). Wonderful little song all the same.
Tickets for his 2025 tour are on pre-sale. You have to go.

Yes one of his best for years. I get the gist and themes here but what is a "red and orange special"? Am I missing a US specific reference ? ...or just old and missing something contemporary? It doesn't spoil my sense of the song unduly, but I'd like to unravel this riddle.
@graciousfew18 күн бұрын
"And the red and orange special is burning on that midnight train" - if you take it as a literal train, it could be the fire in the engine. Of course the train could be a metaphor for something else, so I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy the song, it's so good!!
@acoustically920117 күн бұрын
@@graciousfew I'm glad you find it a conundrum too! Like you I'll not look at it too closely. But...I guess fire = damage but fire also propels something (like an old steam train) forward. ...so maybe the idea here is that the underlying energy behind something/someone can also be destructive.

this one has that sound he mined in 2006 but then never touched again. So many of the Sad Dracula and early Neal era Cardinals tracks had this kind of jaunty little stattaco guitar sound, with super wordy verses
